In Episode 3 of our interview series ‘The Blow-Ins of Inbhear Scéine’, we hear from Sneem-based musician Andy Yelen. Born and raised in the area to a first-generation South African family, Andy grew up surrounded by creativity through his family’s art gallery, Brushwood Studio.
In this episode, Andy shares his journey into music, the influences that have shaped his sound, and his deep connection to place. He also reflects on the remarkable experience of building his own home from the ground up, teaching himself each skill along the way, and how that process mirrors his approach to music and life.
Through music and storytelling, Andy offers a thoughtful perspective on growing up in Sneem and forging your own path while staying rooted in community.
