Behind every emergency response is a team that trains relentlessly.

Over the past few weeks, the Sneem Community First Responders team has been undertaking a series of realistic training scenarios designed to prepare us for the situations we hope never happen, but must always be ready for.

These scenarios simply wouldn’t have been possible without the incredible support of our local community.

A huge thank you to:

* Amanda from Mullen’s Ice Cream, North Square, for brilliantly taking on the role of a distressed mum with a baby.
* Sean, for his support at Dan Murphy’s Pub during the scenarios.
* Una and Sue at Sneem Book Shop for their enthusiasm and assistance.
* Sneem Beekeepers, for kindly lending us their gazebo for our CPR demonstration outside Dan Murphy’s Pub.

What makes Sneem and the surrounding community special is that it’s not just a community that supports its volunteers—it’s a community that gets involved. Whether by participating in training scenarios, lending equipment, offering premises, or stopping to learn CPR, you are all helping to make Sneem and the surrounding community a safer place.

To everyone who has supported us, thank you. Your involvement helps ensure that when someone needs us most, we’re ready.

Together, we’re building a stronger, safer community. ❤️🚑

🚑 Come and Learn CPR – It Could Save a Life ❤️

This Saturday, members of the Sneem Community First Responders team will be outside Dan Murphy’s Pub, Sneem, between 1:00 pm and 2:00 pm, demonstrating Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).

This event is being held in conjunction with Killarney Community First Responders, who will be running the same CPR awareness event in Killarney at the same time.

Everyone is welcome to come along and have a go on one of our training mannequins. It only takes a few minutes to learn the basics, but those few minutes of knowledge could one day help save the life of a family member, friend, neighbour, or even a stranger.

No experience is needed, and there is no obligation—just drop by, say hello, and give it a try.

Together, let’s help make our communities safer—one pair of hands at a time.

We look forward to seeing you there!

We are delighted to share that Sneem Community First Responders has been shortlisted as a finalist in the 2026 Micro Business Awards under the category “Making the Community a Better Place.”

This recognition belongs to every one of our volunteers, trustees, supporters, fundraisers and local businesses who have helped make this service possible.

What began as an idea has become a dedicated team providing emergency support to our community when it is needed most. Since going live, our responders have answered numerous call-outs, giving their time freely to help others.

To be recognised nationally is a tremendous honour, but our greatest achievement remains serving the people of Sneem and the surrounding area.

Thank you to everyone who has supported us on this journey. We are proud to represent our community and look forward to continuing to grow this important service.

A huge thank you to everyone who has supported Sneem Community First Responders.

In only 5 months of operational call outs, our volunteer team has already attended 15 emergency incidents within our community. Every call reminds us exactly why Sneem CFR was established — to provide rapid community support when it is needed most.

What we have achieved so far has only been possible because of the incredible backing from our local community. From fundraising events, donated equipment, and local businesses offering support, to every like, share, comment, and follow on social media — it all genuinely makes a difference.

Sneem CFR is built by the community, for the community.

We are incredibly proud of our volunteers and deeply grateful to everyone who continues to support us on this journey. Together, we are building something strong, caring, and important for Sneem and the surrounding areas.

Thank you for helping us reach 200 followers — and thank you for standing behind your local CFR team ❤️

Another excellent evening of training for Sneem Community First Responders đźš‘

Tonight’s session focused on both adult and paediatric resuscitation skills as our volunteers continue to train and prepare to support our community during medical emergencies.

We are also delighted to congratulate Aleksandra Kapsarova on officially qualifying as a Sneem CFR team member. Aleksandra’s qualification now brings our response team to its full complement of 8 active responders.

Alongside our ongoing training programme, the team continues to respond to emergency call-outs and serve the local community in partnership with the National Ambulance Service.

Well done to everyone involved 👏
