The centre provides a FREE, comprehensive and confidential service to young people and those who work with them, on all topics and issues related to young people. The Youth Information Service provides a support and advice on the following areas:

>Secretarial Services - Typing, Photocopying, Laminating, Binding etc.
>Education and Careers Choices
>Employment and Training Options
>Travel/Volunteering and Summer work abroad
>Emigration – USA, Australia, Canada.
>Accommodation/Tenants Rights/Going to College

FIREWORKS? THINK AGAIN! 🚫
💥 Illegal fireworks can result in fines of up to €10,000 and prison sentences of up to 5 years.
💙 Look out for yourself and your mates this Halloween. Make safe choices, respect the law and remember — real fun doesn't involve fireworks!

📌Did you know that fireworks are illegal for the general public to buy, possess, sell or use in Ireland? 🎇 Only trained, licensed professionals can use fireworks for organised public displays, and an import licence from the Department of Justice is required.

⚠️ Sparklers can reach temperatures of up to 1,200°C and cause serious burns. Always put used sparklers into a bucket of sand and leave them until completely cool.

Creating Safe, Inclusive Spaces for All! 🏳️‍🌈
Our team recently took part in an engaging in-person training session with Niamh from , supporting and guiding us on our journey to becoming a fully inclusive Youth Service for LGBTQ+ young people. 💛

All staff participated enthusiastically, sharing ideas, learning together and strengthening our commitment to ensuring every young person feels welcomed, respected, valued and supported for who they are. 🫶

This training is an important part of the accreditation process for Youth Work Ireland North Connaught to achieve the Belong To Rainbow Award 🌈 — recognising our commitment to creating safe, supportive and inclusive spaces where LGBTQ+ young people can come together, connect, share common experiences and discuss the issues that matter to them.

A huge thank you to Niamh and Belong To for their guidance and support as we continue to learn, grow and make inclusion a priority in everything we do! 💜

The Annual Europe Direct Soapbox Competition!

A fantastic day of discussion, debate and big ideas as post-primary students came together to tackle the question:

🌍 “Culture is at the heart of what it means to be European. But is Ireland culturally closer to Strasbourg or Sydney?”

Students rose to the challenge, delivering passionate 3-minute speeches for or against the motion and showing confidence, creativity and critical thinking. 👏

🏆 With regional winners competing for an iPad sponsored by the European Commission Representation in Ireland, the excitement continues as the top regional winners progress to the National Final on Thursday, 3 December 2026, at the Royal College of Physicians in Dublin!

A huge well done to all the students who took part and shared their voices, opinions and perspectives. The future of Europe is in good hands! 💙💛
