Another Newbridge Kildare Lions Club Wellbeing day out with Newbridge and Kildare people who enjoy culture, walking and connection.

This time we went to visit the Shackleton Museum in Athy. Some of the photos show his last entry into his diary. The bunk bed/cabin is the exact restored cabin he had on his last voyage. After the guided tour arranged by the Newbridge and Kildare Lions Club, we all enjoyed lunch and later, sunshine, music and chat together in the Athy Square.

We welcome people from Newbridge and Kildare who are interested in culture, walking, and connection.

💚 Message in a Bottle – a simple idea that can save lives 💚

Message in a Bottle is a free Lions Club initiative that helps emergency services quickly access vital medical information in an emergency.

🧃 How it works
✔️ You fill in a simple form with key medical details and emergency contacts
✔️ The form is placed in a small bottle and stored in your fridge
✔️ Green cross stickers on your front door and fridge alert emergency responders

👥 Who will benefit
✔️ Older people living alone
✔️ People with medical conditions or allergies
✔️ Anyone taking regular medication
✔️ People with disabilities or communication difficulties
✔️ Anyone who wants extra peace of mind for themselves or a loved one

🚑 If emergency services are called to your home, they know exactly where to look for the information they need, when time really matters.

📍 Bottles are available free through your local Lions Club and community outlets.

Newbridge Kildare Lions Club President Adrian Mc Goldrick officially launched Message in a Bottle on Wednesday 28th. January at Newbridge Town Hall. Message in a Bottle is a national project promoted by Lions Clubs Ireland.

The launch was carried out in conjunction Sgt. John Dunne from Newbridge Community Gardai.

In attendance were members of the Newbridge Kildare Lions Club -Michelle Casey, Morgan Mc Cabe and Joe Fennell, Community Gardai, Ambulance service, Fire service, Order of Malta, Civil Defence and Newbridge Active Retirement group. The project is also supported by local pharmacies and medical personnel.🦁🦁🦁
