What a lovely day at the June Fest Newbridge Family Fun Day.
As part of the day, we were delighted to help run the sensory space in Riverbank Arts Centre giving children and families a quieter place to step away from the noise, crowds and activity when they needed it.
One parent summed up why this matters:
βFantastic area. My girls found the sensory hub very helpful to regulate themselves from all the noise and crowds. Brilliant layout, very relaxing.β
That feedback means a lot.
A huge thank you to Riverbank Arts Centre for allowing us to use the space, and to JuneFest for trusting us to take the reins and run it as part of the Family Fun Day.
Thanks as well to all the volunteers who helped set up, welcome families, make the visual guide, support children on the day, and keep the space calm, friendly and useful.
There were quiet corners, sensory equipment, crafts, Painted faces, plenty of smiles, and even a few brain breaks for the adults too. I was handed markers and a card cutout at one stage, and the avocado shirt artwork was alarmingly accurate.
This is what practical inclusion looks like. It is about making sure more families can take part, stay longer, and enjoy community events in a way that works for them.
Well done to everyone involved.
