Meath Civil Defence Civil Defence is a volunteer based humanitarian organisation dedicated to assisting the community

Civil Defence was established by the Government in 1950 under the Air Raid Precautions Acts of 1939 and 1946 and the Civil Defence Act of 2002

Training programmes include:

* First Aid
* Rescue skills
* Radio Communications
* Map Reading skills
* Fire-fighting skills
* Welfare and catering
* Radiological monitoring and sampling
* Search skills
* Water search using boats and kayaks

Last weekend a group of 15 volunteers from Meath, part of a group of 68 from accross the country took part in the 66th International Pilgrimage to Lourdes. The annual pilgrimage sees in excess of 15,000 military personell from accross the world come together in a spirit of peace and reconcilliation.
