GARRYOWEN – WE WANT YOU IN THE PICTURE
A major new public artwork is coming to Markets Field and we want the people of Garryowen to be part of creating it.
Draw Out – Urban Ex**********ts Ltd is delighted to be beginning an exciting new large-scale mural project at Markets Field, Garryowen, supported through Limerick City and County Council and the Mayor’s Office.
At the heart of this project is Garryowen itself, its people, its character, its stories and the generations who have shaped this community.
As part of the development of the artwork, we are inviting people from across Garryowen to take part in a special community street photography shoot on Friday, 18 September.
The photographs created on the day will become part of the reference material used by the artists to develop the mural. These will also be archived for display as part of the launch of the project.
We want to capture real people in a real place: children and grandparents, young people, families, neighbours, friends, local characters and familiar faces. We want movement, personality, humour, connection and the everyday moments that make a community recognisable to itself. The images will capture live moments of interaction & play.
This is about creating something that belongs to Garryowen.
Rather than simply placing an artwork within the community, we want the community to help shape the visual language from which it grows. The photography will give our artists an authentic library of local faces, gestures, relationships and moments to draw upon as the mural develops.
Come with your children. Bring your parents or grandparents. Bring your teammates, friends and neighbours. Bring the people who, for you, represent Garryowen.
