An early start this morning for our crews providing medical cover for into light Cappamore. A great community event and our volunteers were delighted to be on hand to help out.

Thanks to the Cappamore Defib Group and Limerick Fire and Rescue who also helped out to ensure everyone had a safe enjoyable event

Over the last two days our East Limerick Red Cross crews, Along with our Limerick City colleagues and Rally Rescue. covered a Hillclimb event in county Limerick. A safe and enjoyable event had by all.

Proud of Our Volunteers

When people think of big impacts, they often think of big numbers. But sometimes the biggest difference comes from small groups of dedicated volunteers.

Here in Doon, County Limerick, our East Limerick Red Cross branch may be small in number, but the commitment of our volunteers is something we are incredibly proud of.
Over the past year our team has answered the call time and time again. From patient transfers to and from hospitals, nursing homes, hospices and private homes, to providing medical cover at community events across East Limerick and beyond. Our volunteers have also been busy delivering First Aid training, helping equip people in our community with lifesaving skills.

When our community needed support, our members stepped forward - assisting in search operations for missing persons, responding during severe weather and community emergencies, and supporting those who needed help the most.

Every call, every event, every course delivered is done by volunteers giving their time freely to help others.
We are incredibly proud of what this small branch nestled in East Limerick has achieved. It shows what can happen when people come together with a shared goal to help those in need.

If you’ve ever thought about getting involved in something meaningful in your community, we’d love to hear from you. New volunteers are always welcome.

The Irish Red Cross has launched a dedicated support helpline for anyone distressed by flood damage to their home, property or business following Storm Chandra.

📞 Call 01 642 4648

🕙 10:00am – 6:00pm daily

From Friday 30 January, throughout the bank holiday and for as long as needed

This helpline is staffed by trained Irish Red Cross volunteers and staff, offering:

🤍 A compassionate listening ear

📌 Guidance and signposting to Government and local authority supports

🏠 Information on available flood support schemes for small businesses and voluntary organisations

⚠️ This is not an emergency line.

If you need urgent, on-the-ground assistance, please call 112 / 999.

We’re incredibly proud of everything our East Limerick Red Cross volunteers have been involved in over the past year.
From community support and responding to those in need during severe weather, to assisting in search operations within our local area, our volunteers were always ready to step up when it mattered most.
Throughout the year, we carried out patient transfers to and from hospitals, nursing homes, hospices and private homes, ensuring people were cared for with dignity, compassion and professionalism. We also provided medical cover at community events across East Limerick and beyond, helping keep our communities safe while supporting local events.

None of this would be possible without our dedicated volunteers, ordinary people doing extraordinary things for their community 💪
If you’ve ever thought about joining the East Limerick Red Cross, now is a great time. We’re always welcoming new members, and no experience is needed - full training is provided.
