Another very enjoyable meeting was held at Raheen Toastmasters this week. There is truly something special about Raheen Toastmasters. Even when only a handful of people attend, the atmosphere somehow becomes even more enjoyable and personal.

Speaking in front of a small audience can sometimes feel even more challenging than speaking to a large crowd but at Raheen everyone is encouraged, included and celebrated. Every person in the room including guests get the opportunity to take part in Table Topics.

One of our guests bravely accepted a topic after some hesitation and afterwards admitted it had been a terrifying moment for her. We all smiled because she did so incredibly well that nobody would have guessed it was her first time speaking. She was absolutely lovely and should be very proud of herself.

Our returning guest, Tracey Hackett also took on a topic and is already looking forward to coming back again. Tracey mentioned how quickly the two hours of Toastmasters fly by and it’s true time really does fly when you’re having fun.

Our Topicsmaster for the evening was Enda Kelly, who shared that after visiting many clubs he found himself returning to Raheen Toastmasters. Enda was previously a member and Vice President Education of Raheen Toastmasters a few years ago and we are delighted to welcome him back. We look forward to him officially rejoining the club in the new Toastmasters year.

Overall, it was a fantastic meeting. Vincent Naughton, our newest member, commented on how much he enjoyed the evening. Our Toastmaster of the Evening, Meena Verma, opened and closed the meeting with a short meditation session which added a calm and thoughtful tone to the evening.

Congratulations to our President, Donald Lea who won Best Table Topic Speaker. Meena Verma also presented Donald with the Best Topic ribbon.

If you would like to experience a friendly and supportive club where you are celebrated and never just a number, come along to Raheen Toastmasters. What have you got to lose other than the fear itself?

Our next meeting takes place on 25th May at 7:45pm in the South Court Hotel. New guests are always very welcome.

At Raheen Toastmasters, every meeting is memorable and enjoyable, it’s simply the nature of the club. It’s a place where everyone is valued and celebrated.

We had a fantastic meeting on Monday, 27th April with two guests in attendance and two inspiring Icebreaker speeches from our newest members. For anyone unfamiliar, an Icebreaker is the first speech a member delivers after joining, an opportunity to introduce themselves or share something meaningful in their own unique way.

Kate Sylvester and Mark Finucane truly wowed the audience. Two very different speeches, two distinct styles and both absolutely excellent. Members and guests alike were still in awe afterward, well done to both.

The meeting flowed smoothly, with an engaging Table Topics session led by Ciaran Cooke, where everyone had something to contribute. Brenda McDermott took home the award for Best Topic, congratulations.

Our General Evaluator, Meena Verma, provided thoughtful and constructive feedback on the meeting, praising the overall standard while also highlighting a few areas for improvement.

Our President, Donald Lea, also presented trophies to Aidan Harvey (1st place) and Ciaran Cooke (2nd place) for the Club Table Topics Contest held earlier in the year. A win is a win, even if the trophy is a little delayed.

We’re already looking forward to our next meeting on Monday, 11th May at 7:45pm. If you’ve ever been curious about Toastmasters, this is a great opportunity to come along, experience the club, and see if it’s for you. You can take the summer to think about it and return in September, you won’t regret it.

Our recent guests are already excited to come back, and we’d love to welcome more new faces. Until then, goodbye for now. See you on the 11th May at 7:45pm at South Court Hotel.

Ever thought “I should really get better at public speaking… but sure maybe next week”? 😅
Well… next week is now.
Our next meeting is tomorrow evening Monday 27th April at 7:45 at the South Court Hotel and it’s a great chance to come along, see what it’s all about, and maybe even surprise yourself.
No pressure, no spotlight (unless you want it), just a room full of friendly people figuring it out together , one speech, one laugh and the odd nervous shuffle at a time.
Guests can attend for free, so you’ve nothing to lose… except maybe that fear of speaking in front of a crowd 😉
We’d love to see you there.

We had a very enjoyable meeting on 13th April at Raheen Toastmasters. Our April Fools’ joke that the meeting would be conducted in silence to improve our listening skills went down very well 😊. While it may not be impossible, it would certainly be challenging to run a two-hour meeting in silence though perhaps something worth exploring further. 🙃

Jokes aside, the meeting went very well. We had a smaller turnout due to last-minute cancellations but at Raheen Toastmasters we know it’s never about quantity, it’s always about quality. The energy in the room as always was something to be proud of.

Our Topics Master for the evening was new member Vincent Noughtan who did an excellent job, taking on the role for the first time. Our A & M Counter was John O’Connor, the Timer was Mark Finnucane, and the General Evaluator was Ger Keyes who all wowed us with their work.

We had two prepared speeches on the night. The first was delivered by our PRO, Meena Verma, and the second by our Secretary, Brenda McDermott. Meena’s speech was evaluated by Ciaran Cooke in his first-ever evaluation, where he provided thoughtful and valuable feedback. Brenda’s speech was evaluated by Aidan Harvey, who also offered positive and constructive points for development.

Our General Evaluator, Ger Keyes, delivered comprehensive feedback and highlighted areas for future improvement across the meeting.

The best topic was jointly won by two of our newer members, Mark Finnucane and Ciaran Cooke both of whom were awarded Table Topics Winner ribbon by our President, Donald Lea. Well done to both them.

If you want to be part of this amazing community, build confidence speaking in public, develop your leadership skills or learn how to give effective feedback in the workplace, why not come along to our next meeting at the South Court Hotel on 27th April 2026 at 7:45pm
We look forward to welcoming you 💪👏🙏
