*New Caledonia Folk Orchestra with Artistic Directors Larry & Elaine Conger*
The New Caledonia Folk Orchestra is a trailblazing ensemble dedicated to exploring and celebrating the deep, historic connections between the music of Ireland and the traditional sounds of the Southern Appalachians.

Under the innovative artistic direction of Larry and Elaine Conger, the orchestra specializes in unique arrangements that dynamically circulate melody and harmony across a vibrant tapestry of instruments—including the mountain dulcimer, fiddle, guitar, and mandolin. Following their highly successful maiden voyage to Scotland last year, the ensemble continues to evolve its orchestral folk sound, bringing together musicians and dedicated music-lovers alike.

Through their evocative performances and spirited jam sessions, the New Caledonia Folk Orchestra bridges generations and oceans, turning historical roots into a living, breathing musical adventure.

Known for its lively performances and wide-ranging repertoire spanning multiple genres, the choir has become a much-loved part of Kilkenny’s cultural life. Each year it hosts a showcase Christmas concert that has become one of the highlights of the city’s festive season, selling out annually and attracting audiences from across the region and beyond.

🪉A Celtic Tapestry ☘️ - Meet the performers
🥁….The Music Generation Waterford Harp Ensemble

The Music Generation Waterford Harp Ensemble is led by musician educator and Waterford based harper Jill Devlin. The harp programme commenced in 2019, offering children and young people access to instruments and weekly harp tuition in Waterford City.
During the lockdown of 2020/21, the programme continued to grow online with new students and the beginning of the Music Generation Waterford Harp Ensemble.
In September 2022, the harp programme extended to
Dungarvan where children and young people in West Waterford can now access instruments and
weekly harp tuition also.
Since 2019, the young harpers have collaborated with a number of noted musicians including Macdara Ó Faoláin, Alannah Thornburgh, Fiana Ní Chonaill, and the MTU CSM Symphony Orchestra in collaboration with the Symphony Club of Waterford. Their most recent performances include Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann, a featured performance on TG4, and a performance at the Celtic Harp
Festival di Pamparato in Italy last summer where they also featured on the album Live in Pamparato, Vol. 3 - 2025.
Many of the harp students attend the annual Tionól harp and pipes residential weekend hosted by Music Generation Laois and are members of Music Generation Ireland’s Harp
Collective.

And breathe… 😮💨🎶 What an absolute whirlwind of a June Bank Holiday weekend!

We are officially back on dry land after a three-day musical marathon across County Kilkenny, and our hearts (and voices) are completely full.

First and foremost, a massive THANK YOU to every single person who came out to watch us, clapped along, and cheered us on over the last 72 hours. Seeing so many familiar and new faces in the crowds made every single mile worth it! 🫶✨

We also want to say two very special thank yous to our incredible hosts:
🌲 A huge thank you to the Castlecomer Male Voice Choir for inviting us to be a part of the beautiful Where Voices Meet Roots event on Sunday. It is always a privilege to share the stage with such fantastic local talent under the woodland canopy.
🏇 And a massive thank you to Gowran Racecourse for having us out for The Irish Stallion Farms EBF Gowran Classic on Monday. Ending our weekend trackside with such an energetic crowd was the perfect grand finale!

From the festival buzz of the Cat Laughs on Saturday to the racetrack on Monday, it’s a weekend we won't forget anytime soon. Time for some honey, lemon, and a very long lie-down! 🍯🍋🛌

See you all at the next one!
