Developments at Kells & District Men’s Shed have recently taken a great forward movement with the installation of their new workshop. On Tuesday August 18 members watched with anticipation as the Adman Steel Sheds company arrived in Kells, with four trucks and eight workmen, to construct the insulated steel frame shed which will be their new workshop. From 8am to 2pm Adman construction workers toiled to erect the 40 X 26 foot shed on our new site on the road into Riverside housing estate. The shed arrived in parts fully measured to the awaiting concrete plinth and was efficiently erected in an exacting timeframe. “It was quite an emotional experience to see it being built before our eyes”, said Chairman Seamus McDonagh, who had worked for this moment for many years!!

What a great night we had in O’Connor’s Pub yesterday! Congratulations to Simon McAleese, who was the winner of the draw. Simon very generously insisted on donating the majority of his winnings back to us. We are incredibly grateful to Simon and his wife, Lorraine, for their kindness and support!

The concrete base is now installed for our new Workshop. We are looking forward to the shed arriving in early August. We are very grateful for the support and encouragement we have received from many many people in Kells and the surrounding district as we sold tickets for our raffle. The project to install our new Adman shed on site is well underway and the sunny weather shines on developments. The heavy squad has moved in – no not the hearty guys you see posing for photos – the diggers and trucks! That’s why the hearty crew are all smiles: pipes are laid, trenches dug and foundations prepared for the laying of concrete. Our photos show Chairman Seamus McDonagh, Secretary Jim Kieran, Treasurers Owen Gilsenan and Anthony McDonagh. Also pictured our delivery man and Mr. Kearon Shiel from Adman sheds, ensuring that the site is in tip top shape for installation of our long-awaited shed, in August.
