We are immensely proud to share the news of our prize at the Meath County Council Kells Municipal District Pride of Place awards last night. It's so lovely to have our group recognised for Social Inclusion. We strive to be a welcoming body for people of all backgrounds and abilities. We take great pleasure and pride in working locally with the community of Kells. This prize is a testament to the dedication of our wonderful leaders and the enthusiasm and energy of every single youth member. BRAVO.

What a great start to our scouting year!

Last weekend, 5th Meath Kells Scouts held a group camp at Causey Farm where over 100 of our troop took part in an amazing 2 days of pioneering, hiking, games, tent pitching, meal prep and cooking, campfire singing and camping outdoors.

Even though some of the group had just started scouting in the previous fortnight, they threw themselves fully into each and every activity with great determination and enthusiasm. It was incredible to see scouts aged from 6 to 18 years all work and play together, where new friendships were forged and new skills developed.

We had a special night under the stars, sitting around our campfire, singing songs and eating smores until it was time to head to bed in our little tented village of 21 tents, 2 dining shelters and gazebo. Huge thanks must go to the 25 scout leaders who organised, prepared and led the youth members all weekend.

Thanks also to our friends from Causey for allowing the group to use their wonderful facilities. We can’t wait until the next adventure!

The leaders in 5th Meath Kells Scouts took to the waters of Lough Ramor in Virginia last weekend. They attended a level 2 kayaking course over Saturday and Sunday. There was lots of paddling, games, capsizing and rescue practice all led by the very capable Padraic@ h2oadventure.ie
More practice and paddling will take place over the coming months so that the youth members will soon be out on the water too.

5th Meath Kells Scout section had a wonderful 4 day summer camp in Castle Saunderson. They camped in the forest, using a combination of wooden shelters, hammocking, tents and Icelandics. Great fun was had learning to light fires using ferrous rods, cooking meals on open fires, using axes and saws, building bivvies, wall climbing and hiking through the woods. A big highlight for the scouts was a visit to Cavan Adventure Centre for kayaking, paddling, swimming and archery.

Happy Founders Day ✨️

Our Scout group of parents, leaders and scouts hiked to Lloyd to see the sunrise 🌅 as part of our celebration of the lives of the founder of scouting, Robert Baden-Powell and his wife Olave. ⚜️

Robert had a belief that young people could change the world if they were given adventure, responsibility and a chance to lead.

We in Kells, Co.Meath are very proud of our Scout group, our leaders and the achievements of our youth members 💜💛💜
