Founded in April 2003, the Headford & District Association is dedicated to enhancing the social, cultural, environmental, and business life of the Headford area. Our mission is to promote Headford as a vibrant place to live, work, and enjoy leisure, while fostering community pride and sustainable local development. Over the years, the Association has played a key role in numerous community project

s, including: The Town Sewerage Scheme, The Children's playground, Town Twinning, Amenity Walk, Heritage initiatives, Christmas lights, Town Team, Reimagine Headford Project, Tidy Towns, Headfest and the St. Together with local residents, businesses, and volunteers, we continue to work towards making Headford a thriving and welcoming community.

Joyce Country and Western Lakes UNESCO Global Geopark is leading an update of the Tourism Strategy and Action Plan for the period 2026-2030 for this stunning region. The team are looking for feedback from local people in the 20 Geopark communities. Three in-person meetings are taking place in June 2026:

🥁 Join Drumadore for Cruinniú na nÓg 2026! 🥁

In partnership with Galway County Council, HaDA are excited to host a series of drumming workshops for Cruinniú na nÓg 2026. As Ireland’s national day of free creativity for children and young people, joins us with a series of fun, energetic drumming workshops led by Drumadore in Moyne Villa (small astro turf) on Saturday, 6th June.

These lively sessions are designed to spark creativity, build confidence, and explore rhythm in a fun, supportive musical environment — perfect for young drummers of all abilities!

🗓️ Saturday, June 6th 2026

📍Location: Moyne Villa Astro Turf (weather permitting - if the weather doesn’t cooperate, don’t worry, we have St. Fursa’s Hall (H91 YW5F) booked as a backup!)

⏰ Session Times (please book the correct age group for your child/ren):
• 2:00–2:30pm | Ages 2–3
•2:30–3:10pm | Ages 3–5
• 3:10–3:50pm | Ages 5–7
• 3:50–4:20pm | Ages 6–9
• 4:20–5:00pm | Ages 10–13

✨HaDA are thrilled to announce that we have been awarded funding through the Creative Communities Programme 2026 by Creative Ireland in partnership with Galway County Council 🎉

Over the coming months, this support will enable us to deliver a series of creative workshops designed to bring people together through participation, expression, and shared cultural experiences across our communities 🎨🤝🌎

The Creative Communities Programme reflects Creative Ireland’s national vision of empowering every person and community to realise their creative potential supporting wellbeing, strengthening culture and connection, and encouraging inclusive participation for all 💡💬💙

HaDA has submitted two expressions of interest to Galway County Council to acquire the courthouse for use as a community building. When this was first proposed, we spoke with many clubs and groups in the town about how the space could benefit them.

Congratulations to Joyce Country and Western Lakes Geopark Project green light to become a UNESCO Global Geopark last September. 🎉🥳👏

Next week, Joyce Country and Western Lakes Geopark will officially receive its UNESCO Global Geopark accolade on Thursday 23rd April 2026 at the UNESCO Executive Board meeting in Paris. 🇫🇷
