Vision for Courtown & Riverchapel Welcomes Granting of MARA Approval for Courtown Beach Nourishment & Marina Development Project

Vision for Courtown & Riverchapel warmly welcomes the granting by MARA of Marine Area Consent application for Wexford County Council’s Courtown Beach Nourishment & Marina Development Project.

This important approval marks another major step forward in the long-awaited regeneration and revitalisation of Courtown Harbour, beach and wider coastal area. The project represents a significant investment in the future of Courtown and Riverchapel and demonstrates a strong commitment to the sustainable development of our coastal community.

Vision for Courtown & Riverchapel would like to sincerely commend Wexford County Council, its officials, elected representatives and all those involved for the enormous amount of work, planning and dedication that has gone into progressing this project to date. The continued investment and belief in the future potential of Courtown is very much appreciated by the local community.

The proposed beach nourishment and marina development has the potential to deliver substantial long-term benefits for the area including enhanced tourism, improved amenities, economic growth, increased marine activity, improved public spaces and the protection and enhancement of Courtown’s coastline for future generations.

As a community organisation representing a broad range of local groups, businesses and residents, Vision for Courtown & Riverchapel strongly supports projects that help create a vibrant, sustainable and welcoming future for the area. We believe this development can act as a catalyst for further regeneration and investment throughout Courtown and Riverchapel.

Welcoming the decision, TD Malcolm Byrne said:
"Restoring the beach to Courtown is critical to the community’s long-term regeneration. Having the marine area consent licence is the next step but now we need to ensure we get funding to build the breakwater and to keep moving ahead."

Vision for Courtown & Riverchapel looks forward to continuing to work collaboratively with Wexford County Council, elected representatives and all stakeholders as the project progresses through its next stages. The community is excited to see positive momentum continuing on a project that has the potential to transform the area socially, economically and environmentally.

This is a very positive step for Courtown and Riverchapel and an encouraging step towards delivering a shared vision for the future of our coastal community.

A sincere thank you to everyone who made today’s Courtown Home Energy Event such a success!
We would like to extend a special thank you to Courtown Hibs Soccer Club for hosting the event and providing such a fantastic venue.

A huge thank you to Dr. Yvonne Byrne (SEAI) for her expert advice and guidance on home energy grants — it was incredibly valuable to all who attended.

We are also very grateful to all the contractors and exhibitors who gave their time, shared their knowledge, and helped inform the community about energy solutions.

And finally, thank you to everyone who came along — your interest and engagement made the event worthwhile.

Together, we’re taking positive steps toward warmer, more energy-efficient homes and a greener future.
