***Dream team alert only 3 more sleeps***

This lineup is unreal for the Special Olympics Ireland Games next weekend.
- Brendan & Jack in badminton,
- Poppy & Misha in the pool,
- with Cormac coaching and David chaperoning.

What a crew to take to the Special Olympics Ireland Games.

We had a lovely evening in the wishing them luck and having a giggle along with our local councillor Craig Doyle

Thursday can’t come fast enough - you’ve got this guys!!!

Do your best and have lots of fun😊

Are you heading to Dublin to support them over the 4 days, or cheering from Gorey?

Our Ireland Games chaperone is David Murphy, he has an incredible volunteering story over the last few decades👏

Driving trucks over the Transylvanian mountains in 1991 sounds wild, building a halfway house for orphans... that’s real impact, not just a one-off trip.

Then back at it in 2013 when he started volunteering with Special Olympics Ireland.
He has basically volunteered across land and sea.😉
What an incredible journey David is having from sound engineering and MC for Bocce at the Ireland Games in 2018, to hobbies of kayaking and cycling to currently being a volunteer at swimming and Head Coach for Bocce with SOGGA Gorey … and MC when required for club events😉

A very popular chaperone for 4 qualified Olympians at the 2026 Ireland Games in Dublin. It must feel really special to watch athletes you’ve built relationships with get to that stage.

Volunteering with the team, then unwinding in the garden growing veg, kayaking, and cycling greenways with his fiancee Felicia. What a life balance

Sounds like the perfect retirement plan in the making — travelling and discovering new cultures on the horizon upon retirement in November 2026,,, but not from us we hope!

🏊‍♀️ BEST OF LUCK, POPPY! 🇮🇪

Everyone at Courtown Swimming Club is incredibly proud of Poppy as she represents Leinster at the Irish Games 2025.

Poppy will join her Leinster teammates at the Opening Ceremony on 18 June before taking to the pool for divisioning on 19 June and racing on 20–21 June at the National Aquatic Centre.

Competing in both the 25m Freestyle and 50m Freestyle events, Poppy has worked tirelessly to earn her place on the Leinster team, and we know she will give it her all.

The Irish Games provide a pathway for athletes to progress to the World Games in Chile in 2027, making this a very exciting milestone on the journey ahead.

We wish Poppy the very best of luck and look forward to cheering her on every step of the way.

As Head Coach of the Special Olympics Leinster Badminton 🏸 Team, Cormac brings passion, patience, and plenty of good humour while preparing the squad for the Game this June.

A little about him, by day he builds robots, by evening he's firing up the BBQ like a seasoned pitmaster, and at weekends you'll probably find him beside the sea with a fishing rod in his hand.

Likes : badminton (obviously) fishing, swimming, BBQ and spending time with his wife and daughter.

Dislikes: salad😜

We're sure that our guys will be very well advised and supported during the Ireland Games as they have been all year
