Inspired by the impactful work of groups like the Maharees Preservation & Conservation Association in Kerry and the Tramore Eco Group in Waterford, Kilmore Quay Conservation (KQC) has been officially created. Incorporating former Kilmore Residents Group, KQC aims to tackle vital issues such as coastal erosion and the preservation of Kilmore Quay's heritage for the benefits of local and visiting communities and future generations. With dune erosion at Ballyteigue recently taking the spotlight, this critical problem will be KQC’s immediate starting point and primary focus.
KQC's initial focus involves organizing a workshop with experts to discuss dune protection, restoration, and nature-based solutions. A guest list of speakers is currently being prepared, and the workshop's venue and date will be confirmed shortly.
