Call Directions Contact the organisation

Riverchapel & Courtown CFR CFR stands for Community First Response. We provide backup to the National Ambulance Service during various emergency situations in our community.

always looking for new members. pm us or email [email protected] We are a group of volunteers from the local community who are dedicated to helping people in emergency cardiac situations. Ambulance response times are longer in rural areas, and the first 10 minutes are the most important in a cardiac arrest situation. We aim to be on call 24/7/365 to assist the NAS in helping to keep people alive while waiting for paramedics. Our responders will all be fully trained and insured to HSE standards and are certified by the PHECC (Pre-Hospital Emergency Care Council). We are always looking for Volunteers to increase the amount of service we can provide. All training is provided by CFR and the National Ambulance Service, so all a volunteer needs is some free time
18 or above and an interest in helping others. The calls we could get dispatched to are:
cardiac arrest
heart-attacks
strokes
breathing difficulties
choking

As we settle into the winter months and Courtown Harbour quietens down. We have decided to close an extra day from November to March.

We look forward to welcoming all our lovely customers on our very busy weekends and for those who don’t feel like cooking on a Monday, we are here to look after you too.

We would also like to thank so many groups in our community for booking your Christmas parties with us this year. It’s a huge help to our business.

Thank you all so much for your understanding and support.

ORM Keith Mullane was on with Limerick 95fm last week speaking about the dangers of fireworks at Halloween and the injuries associated with them. Please stay safe this halloween; illegal bonfires & fireworks are dangerous.

Burns and firework injuries are extremely distressing and painful, and can cause lifelong and devastating consequences, so please be careful.

At the end of September, we had 361 active Community First Responder (CFR) groups across the country, up from 344 at the same time last year.

That growth reflects the continued commitment of volunteers who give their time to support their local communities and provide vital assistance while an ambulance is on the way.

Is mór againn an obair a dhéanann ár CFRs ar fud na tíre, go raibh maith agaibh go léir. 💚
