As a Committee, we recently came to understand that the Fermoy Christmas Lights still has no new Committee formed for this year. The outgoing Committee stepped down in June 2026 after committing to a long term of over 10 years. One of our very own Fermoy Community Radio Committee members, Hazel Hanrahan, met with some of the outgoing Fermoy Christmas Lights Committee to generate support in forming a new Committee and talked about the possibility of a stark christmas ahead for the town if one is not found.

Any members of the community and business owners who are interested in taking up the torch please contact us here at Fermoy Community Radio or Noel Mc Carthy and Adrian Godwin

Yesterday at Fermoy Goes Country two of our amazing presenters, Lisa Love and Laura Howard, took to the GAA grounds to capture the days events and got the opportunity to speak with a number of the artists, musicians and a few members of the public.

Take a quick peak into the day with Lisa and Laura and make sure to tune in to the station to listen to the interviews with Mike Denver, Jack Keogh & Band and Effie Neill when we hit live in the very near future

Today we sent Fermoy Community Radio Volunteer DeBarra Cian to Conna to meet some of the locals and give away Tickets two Fermoy Goes Country. We met Rachel of Conna Community Council who told us of the many positive projects taking place on a regular basis in Conna and the locality, thanks for your hospitality Rachel, we hope to have you on one of our shows to tell our listeners all about it very soon. Cian met Mark outside Muntir na Tíre Community Hall where he was purchasing some homemade treats and agreed to take part in our Fermoy Goes Country Quiz. Watch to see how he got on.

The 2026 Munster Fleadh (Fleadh Cheoil na Mumhan) took place in Lismore, County Waterford, from July 11 to July 18, 2026 and we were delighted to be welcomed to capture part of the activities there. Fleadh Cheoil is a big part of the lives of so many in Fermoy and the surrounding villages, with many having travelled to and participated in this event. This will be an area of interest the Fermoy Community Radio will showcase and talk about the importance of the rich heritage of traditional Irish music and dance we have here locally.

We are also so grateful to the young people who gave us consent to capture their unique talent as part of what a Community Radio means. Take some time and listen to the talent of these young people.

We recently held a 'Safeguarding in Radio' awareness training with our volunteers as part of our duty of care to safeguard all children and young people who may listen to the radio station or who may participate in the radio station activities. This is an important area for the radio station, to ensure that all reasonable steps of our safeguarding responsibilities are implemented to create a safe space.
