Our regional Coordinator Marie O' Leary and South Development Manager Eilís Cooney attended a Farmer Health Check Day on Tuesday June 9th at Corrin Mart, Fermoy as part of Men's Health Week.

The event was hosted by Avondhu Blackwater Partnership CLG, in partnership with the Rural Community Health Project and a range of support organisations, Social Farming Ireland, Healthy Ireland, Succession Ireland, Muintir Na Tire, Irish Heart Foundation, Sage, Shine, Alone, HSE Community Work Department, Mabs, Citizens Information and many others. Social Farming Ireland works closely with Avondhu Blackwater Partnership CLG in facilitating Social Farming placements across Cork - benefiting participants, farmers and the wider community through social connection, health and wellbeing, education and skills development.

Well done to Lorna Hurley and all the team at Avondhu Blackwater Partnership CLG and Rural Community Health Project on a fantastic event and highlighting the importance of supporting the health and wellbeing of male farmers and the local rural community in getting health checks and speaking openly about physical and mental health.

*****Tomorrow is Make Way Day*****
Every day, wheelchair users, people who are blind, and others with mobility needs encounter obstacles that most of us never notice — a car on the footpath, a bin blocking the path, an A-board outside a café.
These aren't minor inconveniences. They force people onto the road and make it harder to simply get from A to B.
On Friday 29 May, we're asking everyone across Ireland to do one thing: get out into your street, spot an obstacle, and share it using .
Public space belongs to everyone. Help us make it work that way.

Take pictures of the obstacles you encounter (parked cars on footpaths, bikes chained to railings, sandwich boards and overhanging branches) and post your pictures to social media. Include and tag in your post.
Common obstacles include:
• Cars parked on footpaths
• Wheelie bins, kegs, and sandwich boards on footpaths
• Overgrown hedges
• Bikes tied to lampposts or railings
These barriers can prevent people from moving safely around their communities and can lead to isolation.
