Today’s 3* star walk on the KMDs was led by Josie O’Brien. Four of us covered a distance of 15km and 700 metres height gain. We had to reroute from Crohaun due to the very strong winds and instead stuck to some lovely forest trails with a bit of history added too! Thanks Josie for a lovely walk. Great to kick off the new season of walking!

Today’s 2* walk on the KMDs was led by Tom O’Dwyer and assisted by Margo Kelly. The walk started from Bay Lough, off up the ridge where Sugarloaf leads onto the KMD track, before dropping down and picking up the Vee valley loop walk back round to Bay Lough. Distance: approx 8km and 470m height gain. Great to be back out on the hills, despite the rain!

Today’s 1* walk was in The Knockmealdowns. Nine walkers were out for an enjoyable 9.7km walk led by Nora O'Donovan and assisted by Nora Phelan. There was bit of rain but it didn't dampen the spirits! Great to be back out on the hills after the summer break!

🦌🥾 A fascinating creature in its natural habitat… the Hiker.

Watch closely as the Hiker leaves the safety of civilisation and ventures deep into the wilderness… voluntarily.

Notice the strange behaviour: walking uphill for hours, carrying a suspiciously large backpack, and becoming genuinely excited about a rock, a view, or a patch of mud.

There is no food at the end. No pub. No restaurant. Not even a vending machine.

And yet… they continue.

What drives these peculiar creatures to behave this way? Maybe it's being a Peaks member!

The Hiker, meanwhile, remains convinced this was a “lovely little walk.” regardless😂

🎥 Press play and observe these magnificent idiots in their natural environment. 🥾🌲

🥾😂 The first thing you notice about hiking…

“Wait… we’re not actually walking anywhere in particular?”

There’s nothing at the end of this trail. No pub. No restaurant. No vending machine. Not even a questionable petrol station. Here in Peaks we do find the odd pub or coffee stop eventually!😂

We’re literally just walking uphill for absolutely no reason… and we all think this is fun.

We are, in fact, idiots. 🤣🌲🥾
So whey not join us? www.peaksmcclonmel.ie
