Down Syndrome has been the one of the most beautiful gifts of our lives and we want to welcome new parents and their children into our community, with all of the joy and pure celebration that a birth should bring. So often in Ireland, the news of a child having Down Syndrome is greeted with fear, sorrow and even condolences. We want to try to change this in our own small way by providing baskets o

f love to new mothers to say:

*Congratulations, Mama. You did an amazing job!
*Your child is PERFECT.
*We're here for you.
*Trust us when we say, your life is about to become something truly amazing because of this beautiful little soul. Perceptions in Ireland around Down Syndrome are changing but it's happening far too slowly. Often the attitudes that our parents encounter from the hospital onwards are negative and based on old stereotypes. We can help change this by truly celebrating these gorgeous bundles of perfection when they arrive into the world. It's sad but true to say that parents often never hear 'congratulations' after the birth of their child and we want to change this. All of the money raised will be used to create these baskets of love and to ensure that they are delivered to women who, having received their child's diagnosis, would like to receive our little welcome gift. They will also be invited to join our private online community, where we share and laugh and talk far too much about our gorgeous kids. Thank you so much for considering a donation to our cause. What a wonderful day yesterday - we got two baskets out to new babies and then headed to Carrickmacross Civic Centre to the .ie GROW THRIVE SHINE photo exhibition. Grace and her buddies loved seeing their gorgeous pictures taken by .gu ❤️ The highlight of the night was the inspirational speech from Mei Lin Yap who is the first person in Ireland with an intellectual disability to receive an honorary doctorate 💙💛💙
