Live Music, Fireworks, Family Fun Day, Dino Show, Movie Night plus lots more The Castlerea Rose Festival is one of the most successful and entertaining family festivals in the West of Ireland. We run a 5 day festival over the August Bank Holiday weekend with many free fun family events such as our Grand Opening Parade, Live Street Music, Market

Day, and of course the crowning of our very own Rose of Castlerea. This year's festival will run from Wednesday 2nd August until Sunday 6th August.

Following a fantastic first year, Crusaders Athletics Club's Run With The Roses returns as part of the Castlerea Rose Festival 2026.

📅 Sunday 26th July
⏰ 10.30am
📍 St. Kevin's GAA, Castlerea

✅ 5KM Fun Run
✅ 1KM Children's Run
✅ Walkers & runners welcome
✅ Great community atmosphere

Adults: €10 online (€15 on the day)
Children's Run: Free with a donation on the day

🍴 CALLING ALL FOOD VENDORS 🍴

An Chistin is hosting a Food Fair at The Hub, Castlerea on Sunday 26th July and is looking for vendors to be part of what promises to be a fantastic community event.

The day will feature:
🍔 Food Stands
👨‍🍳 Cooking Demonstrations
🎤 Talks
🎶 Music
🎈 Children's Entertainment

This is a great opportunity to showcase your products, meet new customers and be part of a fun-filled summer event in Castlerea.

Research is very important... so naturally a few of our committee members had to head off to the Night & Day Festival in Boyle last night 😉🎶

And what a night it was! Big Country and The Saw Doctors had Lough Key rocking from start to finish. 🎸🎤

Huge congratulations to the organisers on another fantastic event. Plenty of inspiration gathered, a few notes taken (honest!), and a great night enjoyed by all. 🌹

🌹 A great start to the year for the Castlerea Rose Festival! 🌹

We had a fantastic turnout at our AGM last week with our committee now over 25 people strong - a lovely mix of some new faces and plenty of the “old” faithful too 😉🙌

Our top table remains the same with Paschal Fitzmaurice continuing as Chairperson, Eamon Quinn as Vice Chairperson, Susan Gaynor as Secretary, Lorna Finch and Maggie O’Grady as Joint Treasurers, President John Kennedy, and Jennifer Young taking on the role of Health & Safety Officer.

A brilliant crew with years of experience, plenty of ideas, and lots of enthusiasm for 2026! ✨

We also finished the night the right way - celebrating Lorna and Paschal’s birthdays with cake and fizzy lemonade 🎂🥳

We’ll be announcing our line-up shortly so stay tuned… 👀🎶

🌹✨ THE MOST EPIC ST PATRICK’S DAY — THANK YOU DOESN’T CUT IT! ✨🌹

Yesterday was something else entirely and it was ALL down to our incredible volunteers! 🙌
Not one… not two… but THREE parades in one day! 🎉
📍 Castlebar — 12pm
📍 Ballintubber — 2.45pm
📍 Claremorris — 4pm
With our amazing inflatables in tow, over 30 of the most dedicated, hardworking and absolutely brilliant volunteers showed up and gave it everything they had across three towns, in one day. The logistics alone were no small feat, and the effort that went into both the lead-up and the day itself was just phenomenal. 👏

Every penny raised goes straight towards making the Castlerea Rose Festival this year the best one yet and with a team like this behind it, how could it be anything less?

To every single volunteer who gave their time, energy and enthusiasm yesterday from the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU. You are the beating heart of this festival and we are so incredibly lucky to have you. 💛

🌹 Proud Rose moment for Castlerea! 🌹
Our 2025 Rose Saoirse Webb is heading forward to represent the Castlerea Rose Festival at this year’s Roscommon Rose of Tralee event, and we couldn’t be prouder of her. ✨

Susan and Maggie were delighted to attend the lovely launch in the Abbey Hotel, Roscommon last night. Huge congratulations to Yvonne and the organising committee on a great evening, and thanks to the Abbey Hotel for hosting and the Roscommon Herald, main sponsor once again this year.

We’re really looking forward to the selection night on 28th March and cheering Saoirse on all the way. 🌹

And a big thank you to Caolán Boyle for kindly agreeing to be Saoirse’s es**rt for the events… (he didn’t have much choice – he’s the boyfriend 😉).

🦖 What a day at Lough Key Forest & Activity Park yesterday! 🦖
Our amazing Rose Festival Committee brought the fun with Dinosaurs and Inflatables and they were a huge hit!

A MASSIVE thank you to every single committee member and volunteer who gave up their day to make this happen. Long days and hard work, but it's all for a great cause - raising funds for next year's festival! 💚

Huge thanks also to the fantastic Management and Staff at Loughkey for their wonderful hospitality and for having us! 🙌
