Live Music, Fireworks, Family Fun Day, Dino Show, Movie Night plus lots more The Castlerea Rose Festival is one of the most successful and entertaining family festivals in the West of Ireland. We run a 5 day festival over the August Bank Holiday weekend with many free fun family events such as our Grand Opening Parade, Live Street Music, Market

Day, and of course the crowning of our very own Rose of Castlerea. This year's festival will run from Wednesday 2nd August until Sunday 6th August.

🌹 It’s the final day of the 2026 Castlerea Rose Festival... and we’ve saved some brilliant family fun for the grand finale!🎉

Here’s what’s happening today:

🌿 1.00pm - Bloom & Grow in the Demesne at Somers Park. A free, interactive biodiversity event where the whole family can discover nature, wildlife and all the wonderful creatures that call the Demesne home.

🏊 2.00pm - 4.00pm - Pool Party at Castlerea Outdoor Swimming Pool. Music, games, plenty of laughs and summer fun! (€4 entry)

🦖 2.00pm - 5.00pm - Family Fun Day at Somers Park. Enjoy animatronic dinosaurs, bouncy castles, a BBQ, live music, puppet show and loads more. Free admission!

🌹 8.00pm- The spectacular Rose of Castlerea Selection Gala at the Trinity Arts Centre, where we’ll crown our 2026 Rose of Castlerea and bring an unforgettable nine days of celebration to a close. ✨

Here’s what’s happening today:

🍪 Kids Cookie Making Class – SOLD OUT! Thanks to everyone who booked. We hope all our young bakers have a brilliant time with Solas Desserts.

🗺️ 12pm – Children’s Window Treasure Hunt
A free family adventure around town. Pick up your clues at Robert Flynn’s and see what treasures you can find in the shop windows!

🎱 8pm – Festival Bingo
Head to O’Rourke GAA Centre for a great night’s entertainment with a fantastic €4,600 prize fund.

🐴 8pm – The Castlerea Derby
One of the funniest nights of the festival! Cheer on your favourite jockeys as they race hobby horses through The Square. It’s free to watch and guaranteed to have everyone laughing.

🎸 9.30pm – SPR!NGSTEEN Live
Round off the night with an incredible tribute to Bruce Springsteen in The Square. A fantastic live show and the perfect way to spend your Friday night.

We've another fantastic day of family-friendly events lined up across Castlerea!
🎨 Kilkeevan Art Group Exhibition Launch takes place at 7pm. Come along to celebrate the wonderful talent of our local artists and enjoy a fantastic evening of art and creativity.

🏊 The Pool Party is going ahead at 5pm at Castlerea Outdoor Swimming Pool! The pool is a lovely 38°C, so it's the perfect way to spend a summer evening with music, games and plenty of fun.

🎬 Family Movie Night starts at 6.30pm in The Hub, where we'll be showing Zootopia 2. Grab the popcorn, bring the family and settle in for a great evening of laughs and adventure.
