We Are TLM 'We Are TLM' represents a group of International organisations with a shared vision and mission: to care for children with cancer in Tanzania.

Their Lives Matter Ireland Registered Charity Number: 20103798. Tumaini La Maisha (Hope for Life) operates from our Hub at Muhimbili National Hospital in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Their Lives Matter UK and Ireland are our sister NGOs that support with advocacy and fundraising. At our Hub in Muhimbili Hospital we treat hundreds of children with cancer every year.

After four weeks of their clinical exchange programme at TLM's Tumaini & Upendo oncology wards, it's time to say goodbye to nursing students Molly & Jessica from Ireland. 🇮🇪💛

Alongside learning and working with our team, they also went the extra mile by raising an incredible €2,600 to support children with cancer. Their generosity will help ensure more children receive the care they need.

Over the past few weeks, we have had the privilege of hosting a dedicated group of medical students from University College Cork, Ireland, as part of their international clinical exchange programme.

Representing a range of medical specialties, the students have been working alongside our multidisciplinary team, supporting the care of children receiving treatment in the Upendo and Tumaini wards at Muhimbili National Hospital.

Thank you to the students from University College Cork for your compassion, enthusiasm, and willingness to learn and serve. We are grateful to be part of your journey and wish you all the best as you continue your medical careers. 💛

Mike (Dad) & Kathryn (daughter) are taking on the Africa Rally this July, covering more than 45,000 kms across Southern and East Africa to raise funds for children battling cancer at Tumaini La Maisha (TLM).

Their journey will take them from South Africa through Botswana, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Malawi, Mozambique, and into Tanzania — all driven by one mission: to help change outcomes, restore smiles, and build brighter futures for children fighting cancer.

Through this partnership, Plant for Life Dar will organize, fund, and celebrate all children's birthdays at the end of each month.

These special moments bring joy and comfort to children during their treatment journey, creating memories that truly matter in difficult times.

Our Program Coordinator, Magdalena, and the lead of our Social Program, Eliza — who also serves as one of our dedicated Clown Doctors are currently in Barretstown, Ireland 🇮🇪 attending a specialized training and hospital outreach program focused on therapeutic recreation, psychosocial support, and care for children living with serious illnesses and their families.

This experience brings together professionals from different parts of the world to exchange knowledge, strengthen skills, and explore innovative approaches to supporting children through both medical and psychosocial care. 💛

We are proud to see Magdalena and Eliza representing Tanzania and TLM on a global platform, gaining valuable experience that will continue to strengthen the care, joy, and support we provide to children and families at TLM. ✨

Earlier this week, a team of paddlers kayaked nonstop from Dar es Salaam to Zanzibar, raising an incredible TZS 11,282,000 for children battling cancer at Tumaini La Maisha (TLM).

Organised by Dar Yacht Club, this challenge turned every paddle stroke into hope for our young warriors. 🌊✨

Ella completed the AJ Bell Manchester Half Marathon, pushing through 21.1km with heart and purpose, raising £1,738 in support of children battling cancer in Tanzania through Tumaini La Maisha.

Having once lived in Tanzania and personally lost her mother to cancer, this run was more than a race—it was remembrance, resilience, and hope in motion.

Today, we celebrate and appreciate our wonderful donor who generously purchased a Yanga Sports Club jersey kit as part of our Make a Wish Program.

One of our brave children, who is a passionate and loyal fan of the club, wished for a full Yanga kit - and thanks to this kind gesture, that wish is soon becoming a reality. We are looking forward to the moment he receives it; the joy and excitement on his face will truly be priceless.
