Some days remind us that history doesn’t just happen in cities—it happens in our villages, on our farms, and within our communities.
Today was one of those days.
We were proud to host this important occasion in Boher Parish Hall, which is part of the BCP network. It was wonderful to come together with neighbours, farmers, local representatives, and everyone who played a part in making fibre broadband a reality for our community. It was a moment that brought to mind another important milestone in our history—the day electricity first reached our homes.
That was the beginning of a new era, opening up new opportunities and transforming everyday life. Today feels much the same.
Fibre broadband is far more than cables in the ground. It is an investment in the future of our community. It will help our farms embrace new technologies, support local businesses to compete on a global stage, give our children access to endless learning opportunities, and ensure people can live and work in rural areas with confidence and choice.
Most importantly, this achievement did not happen by chance. It is the result of a shared vision and the dedication of many people working together. Community groups, the agricultural sector, industry partners, local representatives, and countless volunteers all played their part in helping make this day possible.
Just as previous generations brought light into our homes through rural electrification, today we are helping bring opportunity through world-class connectivity.
With the world now at our fingertips, we look forward with optimism. The future belongs to communities that work together, embrace change, and continue to invest in the generations to come.
Thank you to Tipperary County Council for your continued support and collaboration, and to everyone who has contributed to this significant milestone for our community. Together, we are building a stronger, more connected future. National Broadband Ireland Tipperarybcp Microsoft Our Kids Code Tipp Coco
