On Friday evening, we were delighted to attend the 2026 Westmeath Cathaoirleach Awards in the beautiful surroundings of Belvedere House, Mullingar.
The awards celebrated the remarkable work being carried out by community groups across the county, and it was inspiring to be among so many people dedicated to making a positive difference in their communities.
We were honoured that our Older Persons Support Service received an Age Friendly Recognition Award.
This recognition belongs to the many people who make the service what it is, but most importantly, the older people who we have the privilege of working alongside every day. Their stories, resilience and contributions continue to inspire us.
We were also delighted to celebrate with our colleagues at Esker House Domestic Abuse Support Service, recipients of the Pride of Place Award. Their dedication, compassion and commitment make a lasting difference in the lives of so many, and this recognition is so well deserved.
We would like to sincerely thank Westmeath County Council and the Cathaoirleach Awards Committee for recognising the importance of age-friendly services and for hosting such a wonderful event.
Congratulations to all of the nominees and award recipients. It was a pleasure to celebrate the incredible community spirit that exists throughout Westmeath.
