駐園藝術家公告:森川步(Alvdalen)正式進駐藝舍 🌲Artist-in-Residence Announcement: Alvdalen Has Officially Moved into the Art House! 🦉

The pulse of the forest is quietly taking shape.
We are delighted to announce that Kadoorie Farm and Botanic Garden’s 2026–2027 Artist-in-Residence Programme welcomes the woodcarving artist duo, Justin Chan and Vivian Law (Alvdalen Atelier / 森川步工房)! Utilizing salvaged wood collected from KFBG’s own tree pruning operations, they are crafting a brand-new upcycled wooden sculpture—transforming timber that might otherwise have been discarded into an artwork brimming with vitality. They have officially moved into our Art House on-site to embark on a months-long journey of local creation and ecological observation.
✨ A Sneak Peek: The Artists' Creative Inspiration
Standing approximately 2 metres tall, the wooden sculpture they are co-designing, Three Lives of Nature: The Pulse of the Forest, draws inspiration from Indigenous North American totem poles. Centred around the core imagery of the owl—the guardian of the forest—the artists liken the owl's habitat and breath to a protective force. This presence ripples outward subtly, nurturing tree hollows, linking the canopy, sheltering young seedlings, and even touching every microscopic life within the soil. Through reclaimed wood and a public installation, they seek to guide us in perceiving the collective pulse of the forest, reflecting a vision where all living things are interdependent and coexist in harmony.
