Please help us to preserve the harmony of nature for people and, for wildlife. 嘉道理農場暨植物園 (本園) 坐落於本港最高山脈大帽山的北坡和山麓，佔地148公頃。深邃的山谷清溪匯流，翠林環抱，還有不少菜園和梯田農圃，園內還有種種保育及教育設施。

本園於1956年成立，始創目的是援助貧苦農民，助他們自力更生。時至今日，隨着時代變遷，本園的角色亦有所轉變。刻下我們積極在香港及華南地區推廣生物多樣性保育工作，此外並促進發展永續農業和具創意的自然教育。

Kadoorie Farm and Botanic Garden (KFBG) spreads over 148 hectares of land and is located on the northern slopes and foothills of Hong Kong's highest mountain - Tai Mo Shan. Its deep-set valley has streams, woodlands and vegetable terraces - together with conservation and education facilities. The Farm was established in 1956 to provide agricultural aid to farmers in need of support to help them lead independent lives. Today, reflecting the changing times, KFBG plays an active role in promoting the conservation of biodiversity in Hong Kong and South China, allied with sustainable agriculture and creative nature education.

Have you ever explored the elements of nature and their unique qualities?
Have you felt a deep connection with trees or practised perceiving nature’s energy?

Join us for the Level One 5-Day Residential Workshop in ‘Connecting with the Energy of Nature’ series with Dr Claire Elouard at KFBG. Throughout the day, D. Claire will guide you in meditative practices, including grounding, anchoring and centring. Along with you, she will explore topics related to the five elements of nature, identify places that replenish our energy and share scientific insights about trees. There will also be some evening sessions, such as a night walk and intuitive drawing, in which you will have the opportunity to participate and share experiences with your fellow classmates. This is more than a workshop; it is an immersion experience. A rare chance to step out of daily life and live your connection with nature for five full days.

According to philosophy, the connection with the healing powers of nature goes with the five elements of nature: Earth, Water, Fire, Air and Ether. These five elements represent different qualities along with different energy flows that can support and balance with each other.

【The Fauna Conservation Department Outreach Volunteer Recruitment 2026🐾🌱】

The Fauna Outreach Volunteer Programme 2026 is now open for application. 🎉 If you are passionate about wildlife and eager to support KFBG’s animal conservation efforts, don’t miss this valuable opportunity to learn, grow and contribute!

The programme provides a series of classes and hands-on training designed to equip volunteers with the necessary knowledge needed to assist in animal conservation work. Topics include aspects of biology, animal conservation objectives and techniques for introducing the public to the wildlife exhibits at KFBG.

Participants will also be introduced to the work of our Wild Animal Rescue Centre (WARC) through real-life animal case studies and meeting some of the rehabilitation cases. We hope the new cohort of outreach volunteers will help raise public awareness concerning nature and the need for conservation. 🌱

Upon completing the 4-day training and passing the final examination, participants will have the opportunity to assist with our outreach educational programmes, including the “Animal Encounters”, “Discovery Tables” and the “Night Walk Programme”.

🌏 歡迎重溫原住民長老帕特·麥凱布（Pat McCabe）於10月12日線上講座「生生不息的原住民科學」中分享的啟發性見解。

帕特提醒我們，真正的「文化」並不僅是人類的產物，而是大地母親在不同的土地上，透過「人」的形式所表達出來的面貌。數千年來，原住民社群始終活在深刻的互惠之中，他們的每一個行動，都在守護繁衍與滋長的可能，惠及世世代代乃至周遭所有生命。這就是大地母親引領我們看見「萬物共好（Omnibeneficence）」的願景：以一種讓其他生命得以繁盛的方式生活。這挑戰我們要將生命視為中心，並恢復我們與大地的互惠關係。為此，帕特鼓勵我們從愛自己和相信自己開始，在任何情況下都要對我們的身體保持覺知。

🌏Let us review the inspirational insight from Pat McCabe in the online talk Indigenous Sciences of Thriving Life on 12 October.

Pat reminded us that true culture was never merely a human construct, but the living Earth expressing herself through each specific place and its people. For thousands of years, indigenous communities lived in profound mutuality, weaving actions that ensured all surrounding life could thrive across seven generations. This is the vision of "Omnibeneficence", which she put forward as a guiding principle for our times: living our lives in a way that causes the rest of life to thrive. This challenges us to place life at the centre and restore our reciprocity with the Earth. For that, Pat urges us to begin with radical self-love and self-trust, starting with our own bodies as the foundation that needs to be addressed first in any given situation.

國際長臂猿日2026 | 猿啼青山在東黑冠長臂猿歸來20年

「喝過老鼠游過的水、五天在山裡無法洗澡、滿身都是荊棘留下的傷口、膝蓋受傷……這些在後來都變成了很小的事情，因為我們共同確認了一個曾經被世界認為已經消失的物種依然生活在這片森林裡。」

這段話出自《森林與人類》雜誌對本園早年長臂猿保育項目負責人陳輩樂博士（Bosco）的專訪。二十年前，本園聯同廣西林業部門在廣西邦亮林區開展調查，首次在中國境內目擊並記錄到東黑冠長臂猿。這次發現不僅確認東黑冠長臂猿在中國尚未滅絕，也成為全球東黑冠長臂猿保護歷程的重要轉捩點。

International Gibbon Day 2026 | Echoes Across Emerald Hills: 20 Years Since the Cao-vit Gibbon’s Rediscovery
“Drinking water a rat had swum in, not being able to shower deep in the mountains for five days, being covered in thorn scratches, a bad knee… in hindsight, those all became small things. Because together, we confirmed that a species the world thought had vanished was still living in this forest.”

This is from an interview with Dr Bosco Chan, former head of KFBG’s gibbon conservation project, featured in Forest and Humanity.

Two decades ago, Kadoorie Farm and Botanic Garden (KFBG), in collaboration with the Guangxi Forestry Bureau, conducted a pivotal wildlife survey in Guangxi’s Bangliang forest area. It was during this expedition that researchers spotted and documented the critically endangered Cao-vit Gibbon in China for the first time on record. The groundbreaking discovery not only confirmed its survival on Chinese soil, but also marked a crucial turning point in global efforts to safeguard the species.

To mark the 20th anniversary of this historic rediscovery, Dr Chan and Li Jie, a current co-lead of the gibbon project, look back on that momentous survey. Together, they retrace a little-known journey into the wilderness – telling a story of relentless perseverance, exploration and guardianship.

KFBG’s “Wonders in Nature” Nature-Based Parent-Child Playgroup brings this philosophy to life through a vibrant, four-session journey designed specifically for toddlers aged 2 to 3 and their parents.
