This month, we…
🍽️ Served 2,172 hot meals
👖 Distributed 991 clothing items
🚿 Ran 52 showers
🧺 Washed 111 loads of laundry
📱 Charged 152 phones and devices
🧼 Distributed 195 hygiene packages
🤝 Welcomed 88 new arrivals

After a quieter few months, August was a busy one at Wave! We served 30% more meals than in July and our laundry service reached a record 111 loads. It’s a reminder of just how important these basic needs services are.

August also brought some challenges. As part of a land requalification and wildfire prevention programme, the municipality began clearing the land where our containers are located. This has meant suspending our shower service for now. Our shower service is popular and we know how important access to sanitation is, so our team is working on alternative solutions.

Alongside other teams from Northern Greece, we helped distribute clothes, towels and hygiene products for around 600 people at the Sintiki camp.

There’s more in our full monthly report, have a read to see what we’ve been up to in August!

At Wave we offer a range of services but at the core of our work is food. We want everyone who comes through our doors to have a warm, nutritious meal, like this one! Thanks to Μπορούμε for providing us with local, seasonal produce 🥒🌶️🥕🥦🍅

A huge thanks to Med'EqualiTeam for leading this informative training on common skin conditions for all of us at Wave!

Our annual report for 2025 is here! Click the link below to read it in full 🔗 ⭐

In a world that often feels increasingly hostile, divided, and uncertain, spaces of solidarity matter more than ever.

2025 was a year of change for Wave. We started the year with an entirely new team of coordinators and board members, while navigating new challenges and an ever-changing reality in Thessaloniki. Through it all, one thing stayed the same: our commitment to keeping our doors open to everyone, and adapting to the needs of the communities who walk through them every day.

Our Annual Report isn’t just a collection of numbers and milestones. It’s a snapshot of the community we’ve built together: a place rooted in solidarity, mutual support, and the belief that another way of living together is possible.

Thank you to everyone who stood with us this year: our community, volunteers, coordinators, board, donors, and supporters. This report belongs to all of you.

This month, we…
🍽️ Served 2,431 hot meals
👖 Distributed 455 clothing items
🚿 Ran 168 showers
🧺 Washed 88 loads of laundry
📱 Charged 164 phones and devices
🧼 Distributed 76 hygiene packages

We still see less people coming to the community centre this month - around 70-100 each opening day - but with the heat demands for showers and laundry services have gone up. As the numbers are lower we are able to provide everyone with two portions of food as we know people staying in surrounding camps only get one meal a day.

But beyond the numbers we laughed, we cooked, we played games, and we passed the month together, in community. Follow us for more monthly updates!

Today is World Refugee Day, and this year’s selected theme is “courage”. We want to remind everybody that nobody should need to be courageous to cross borders to seek safety and opportunity. Many of us don’t have to be, and that’s simply because of our passport, where we were born and the colour of our skin.

But in a world where borders are becoming more militarised, where hate is easier to reach for than love, and where politicians put profit over people, some are forced to be courageous when they should not have to be.

Today we extend our solidarity to all of our community - not just those deemed to be “refugees - who show us that courage every day.
