📣📣 Διημερίδα για τους #Γύπες και την Παραδοσιακή Κτηνοτροφία στα Βαλκάνια | Conference on and Traditional Livestock Farming in the

Πώς συνδέεται η παραδοσιακή κτηνοτροφία με την προστασία των γυπών και της βιοποικιλότητας στα Βαλκάνια;
Η Διημερίδα θα συγκεντρώσει εκπροσώπους της κτηνοτροφίας, της επιστημονικής κοινότητας, των φορέων προστασίας της φύσης και της δημόσιας διοίκησης, με στόχο την ανάδειξη του κρίσιμου ρόλου της παραδοσιακής κτηνοτροφίας στη διατήρηση των αγροτικών και κτηνοτροφικών κοινοτήτων, αλλά και των οικοσυστημάτων και των πληθυσμών των γυπών.
Μέσα από παρουσιάσεις, συζητήσεις, εργαστήρια και ανταλλαγή εμπειριών από την Ελλάδα, τα Βαλκάνια κι άλλες ευρωπαϊκές χώρες, θα εξεταστούν οι προκλήσεις που αντιμετωπίζουν σήμερα τόσο οι παραδοσιακές κτηνοτροφικές κοινότητες όσο και τα πτωματοφάγα αρπακτικά είδη:
οι αλλαγές στις χρήσεις γης, οι οικονομικές πιέσεις, η διαχείριση ασθενειών, οι περιβαλλοντικές μεταβολές και η δηλητηρίαση της άγριας ζωής.

Η διοργάνωση εντάσσεται στις δράσεις για τον εορτασμό του Διεθνούς Έτους Λιβαδιών και Ποιμενικών Κοινοτήτων 2026 (International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralists), όπως ανακηρύχθηκε από τη Γενική Συνέλευση των Ηνωμένων Εθνών.

How is traditional livestock farming linked to the conservation of vultures and biodiversity in the Balkans?
This Conference will bring together representatives of the livestock farming sector, the scientific community, nature conservation organisations, and public authorities to highlight the critical role of traditional livestock farming in sustaining rural and pastoral communities, as well as ecosystems and vulture populations.
Through presentations, panel discussions, workshops, and the exchange of experiences from Greece, the Balkans, and other European countries, participants will explore the challenges currently faced by both traditional pastoral communities and scavenging birds of prey, including changes in land use, economic pressures, disease management, environmental change, and wildlife poisoning.
