At the last session our volunteers constructed a vertical habitat pile using hazel poles and hop twine to secure. We just need to fill the space now!

Tomorrow (Saturday 12th September) is volunteer morning on The Lizard - and the weather looks good.

Jobs for this month include more cutting and raking. Thistle clearing - yes, they are still popping up from seeds of several years ago - and cutting some long hazel poles and hop twine. All will be revealed on the day!

As always meeting at the orchard picnic bench at 10.00 and finishing around midday with refreshments in the middle. Please bring gloves and chiefly yourselves for however long you can spare.

Looking forward to seeing everyone.

The Wymondham Walkers enjoyed a stroll round the Lizard and the Silfield Nature Reserve tonight. So lucky to have this green space to wander round and enjoy.

We've been contacted by a walker whose dog jumped in the shallow water shown in the photo, in the Wades Pit area, and was injured quite badly on something sharp. Needed a lot of veterinary treatment :-(

The Wades Pit land is to the left hand side of the wooded, sunken, public footpath (Lizard Lane) as you walk towards the top of Right Up Lane where the A11 bridge is to the left and the new Silfield development is opposite.

Please note the Wades Pit area is NOT owned or managed by the Lizard charity.

Please take care when out walking, we really don't want to hear of any more animals - or humans - being injured ❤️

This Saturday (13th) is our June volunteer morning. Despite there being people away on holiday and RHS visitors to Browick Road Orchard on the same morning we are still going ahead, so if you fancy a few light tasks and a brew do come along.

We will be here in the long grass of the orchard from 10-12. Please bring suitable clothing (who knows what the weather has in store) and a pair of gloves.
