Worthing Speakers Club is dedicated to give people the skills and confidence to attain their personal goals in the field of Leadership and Public Speaking.

Worthing Speakers Club brings the attainment of Public Speaking and Leadership skills within the grasp of ordinary people. A single day of formal tuition from a private tutor could easily cost you in excess of £300. And yet you can attend one of our club meetings for little more that the cost of a large coffee at Starbucks. Whether you need to give a strong impression at a job interview or you desire the confidence to start a new business, it is absolutely vital that you you are able to speak with confidence and authority. Yet for many people, public speaking remains a mysterious and terrifying experience. In truth, there is no 'magic' to public speaking. It is all a matter of practice and getting good feedback from other people to help you improve further. Here at Worthing Speakers we provide people with practical help, opportunities to develop their new skills and mentoring to help them get even better! All this happens in a mutually support environment. It is quite OK to make mistakes, get helpful feedback and hence gain confidence in the process. This method of 'learn-by-doing + feedback' is so effective that some of our club members have gone on to participate in public speaking competitions! We normally meet at the Burlington Hotel in Worthing on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of every month. 🎬📚📺 Favourite books, movies, TV shows… and plenty of Toastmasters magic! 🎤✨

What a fantastic meeting we had yesterday at Worthing Speakers!

Our theme was all about our favourite books, movies and TV shows, and we kicked things off with a fun warm-up that gave everyone the opportunity to grab the microphone and share their favourite character. Most people took up the challenge with gusto — and honestly, some of them could have walked straight onto a movie set! 🌟🎭

We then enjoyed three fantastic prepared speeches, covering a brilliant range of topics:
📖 Leadership
🗣️ The love of language learning
🎤 Not a Motivational Speech

Our third speaker will be taking that speech to the Area Contest this Saturday, where it received some valuable group feedback to help fine-tune the performance. We’re looking forward to seeing it on the contest stage! 👏

The second half of the meeting continued the entertainment with a The Simpsons-themed Table Topics session 🍩📺 — plenty of spontaneous speaking, quick thinking and some very entertaining quotes!

As always, the evaluations provided thoughtful feedback that the whole club could learn from, reminding us that every meeting is an opportunity to grow, improve and support one another. 🌱

It was also fantastic to hear such positive experiences from our guests and newest members. Your enthusiasm and participation really helped make the evening special. 🙌

🍂🎤 What a fantastic Autumn Speech & Table Topics Contest at Worthing Speakers Club tonight! 🎤🍂

We were treated to some well-prepared, inspiring speeches and some absolutely hilarious Table Topics that had us laughing throughout the evening! 😂👏

A huge well done to all of our contestants: Ric Stewart, ,Emma Grinter, Olesya Prishutova and Ryan Warland for stepping up, taking part and showing such courage and confidence. It takes bravery to stand in front of an audience and compete — and you should all be proud! 🌟

Today is a truly unforgettable day — Steve’s daughter is getting married! ❤️ What a special and emotional moment for any father, and one he will treasure forever.

Steve joined Wororthing Speakers Club to build his confidence and improve his public speaking, and along the way he has been putting in the practice for one of the most important speeches of his life — his Father of the Bride speech! 🎤🥂

And you know what? HE IS MORE THAN READY! 👏👏

Steve, all those practices, nerves and preparations have brought you to this moment. Now it’s time to put the notes aside, speak from the heart and enjoy every second of this incredible day. ❤️

🎤 What a meeting! Our Toastmasters family showed up big time this week.

🍎 We kicked off with a fun back-to-school themed warm-up
🏆 Huge congrats to Lucy on achieving her Distinguished Toastmaster award — an incredible milestone!
🎉 Shoutout to Jon and Jo for smashing their very first Icebreaker speeches — the hardest one is always the first one!
📢 Word of the day: "reverberate" — and it definitely did, in the applause for our speakers

Next meeting is going to be electric ⚡ — it's our Club Competition featuring Humorous Speech and Table Topics! Come watch our best speakers compete, or better yet, come see what Toastmasters is all about. Guests are always welcome!

✨ Another fantastic evening at Worthing Speakers Club! 🎤

What a wonderful last meeting filled with fun, laughter, inspiration and encouragement! ❤️

🌟 A very special highlight was Lucy delivering her 7th Ice Breaker and sharing how much her journey as a Toastmaster has changed her. From discovering her confidence to becoming a leader — even at 80, Lucy never imagined she could be a leader! 👏✨ What an incredible example that it’s never too late to learn, grow and surprise yourself! 💪

😂 We also had a fantastic and very funny Impromptu Table Topics session run by Ric, bringing plenty of laughs, creativity and some great spontaneous speaking!

🇯🇵 And a huge thank you to our wonderful guest Brian from a Toastmasters club in Japan, who joined us and took an active part as our Speech Evaluator. It is always such a pleasure to welcome guests from other clubs, hear their insights and share the Toastmasters experience together. 🌍🤝

And that’s another Worthing Speakers Club meeting wrapped up — full of positive energy, learning, laughter and encouragement! 💙

Today we celebrate not only an incredible milestone but, more importantly, an incredible person.

Lucy, you are a true inspiration to us all. Your enthusiasm, positivity, kindness, and willingness to embrace every opportunity remind us every day that age is just a number. You continue to encourage, support, and motivate everyone around you with your warmth and wonderful spirit.

Summary of Summer special Worthing Speakers Club ;)
What a wonderfully different, yet equally educational and uplifting evening at Worthing Speakers Club;)

A huge thank you to Jacqui Moorhouse for her inspiring educational session, "Speak with Presence," which gave us practical tips to become more confident and engaging speakers. We also had an amazing time with Ric's improv workshop—full of laughter, creativity, and valuable lessons that translate directly into stronger public speaking skills.

To top it all off, we had the pleasure of celebrating our wonderful member Lucy Evans Brooks birthday a little early. 🎉

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make it such a fun, supportive, and memorable evening. Looking forward to seeing you all again next Thursday at 19:30pm at The Ardington Hotel.
