Welcome to Creekside WI, home of the amazing ladies who just love having fun! Creekside WI - Become a member! Then Creekside WI in Wootton is the place to be.

Fun, friends and plenty of frolics, that's what Creekside WI is all about. Would you like the opportunity to make new friends with like minded women, learn new crafts, visit historical homes and gardens and generally enjoy great company? We welcome visitors and members in Wootton on the second Wednesday of every month (except August) at the Methodist Church at 7.15pm. Meetings consist of either a speaker or activity, competitions and an opportunity to enjoy a chat, drink tea or coffee and eat cake. As a member, we enjoy activities such as indoor Kurling suppers with other WI groups on the island, visits to historical homes and gardens, beauty demonstrations, christmas shopping, monthly book club, coffee and chat at Quarr Abbey for example, lunches out, rambles, crazy golf, theatre nights, murder/mystery nights and so on. The list is endless but the advantage of this for you is there is so much variety, you can pick and choose what suits you. There is a programme and monthly newsletter to keep you up to date with events and activities so you won’t miss a thing. If you don't drive there is always someone who is willing to provide a lift. Memberships are available, message us for further details, we offer three visits before joining us to enable you to meet us and see if you like us crazy fun ladies. Supper club this month was at the Dairymans Daughter in Arreton. A lovely venue with themes of Halloween and dare we say it Christmas! They served delicious food and enjoyed a lovely friendly evening with lots of chatter. Only two of us could manage a pudding!! Thank you ladies great evening had by all,

Happy 59th Birthday Creekside WI
Our President welcomed Trish and Norma on this special evening.
There is a great deal of talent within our WI. One multitalented member is Marion, who has flower arranging on her list of talents.
Marion gave a very amusing rundown of her early start in florestry and the changes over the years. Cool room? In the past was the toilet with a wet stone floor. She worked her way up from being the person who swept the floor to a fully trained florist. Use moss in the construction of letters or words etc? Marion just coped with the family of field mice nesting in the moss and returned to work.
Marion created a magnificent designs in a trug called ‘Freshly Gathered’, designed to look like freshly gathered flowers, including stalks. A bottle basket had a stunning creation which included a bottle of w**e, chocolates and a potted plant. A double sided frame enclosed beautiful pink flowers accompanied by foliage.
Thank you for all your hard work Marion, we really enjoyed the evening.

Creekside Craft Club October 2026
Thanks to Sue Fox and Cheryl Howel for organising this month’s meeting. Quick sketching with a black waterproof pen and no rubber certainly loosens up an artist. We all had to consider perspective, texture and easy representations of people and colour bery quickly. We also considered how many cakes and biscuits we might enjoy! See you all next time.

Creekside WI Book Club
Only a few members were well enough to attend book club this month but those who did enjoyed a lively discussion and lovely refreshments. No one thought very much of "Murder by the Book". It was very apparent none of us are fans of books with short stories. It was agreed that a few of the stories were well written and interesting but on the whole we preferred a novel of some kind. Scores for this book were not very high, 6 out of 10 being the highest. Next month we will be reading a book of our own choice.

Intrepid Creekside WI Ladies Visit the Donkey Sanctuary
Well it certainly rained on the day! In true WI spirit we never let the rain dampen our enthusiasm for being out, especially if it involves coffee and cake. We all got in a big pen with about 10 donkeys and got friendly with them. They are really sweet. We learned a lot about donkey characters and the donkey sanctuary.
Thank you ladies for the good company, the committee for organising the visit and the sanctuary staff for making it such a successful visit.

Creekside Ladies enjoy a game of Croquet.
Thank you so much to Ryde Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club for a lovely afternoon on the croquet courts, in the sunshine. Our tutors were prepared for anything. Good job because anything did happen. ‘Why doesn’t it go where I’m aiming?’ ‘ Which way are we going through the hoop?’ When you get over trying to aim and hit the ball hard enough to reach the hoop, you realise that it is a very strategic game, exercising your brain as well as your body. We also had the pleasure of meeting some of the ladies from the Trefoil Guild. Why not give it a try, it is a very welcoming club.

Celebrating the Life of Margaret Paice 💙
We said ‘Goodbye’ to a kind and much valued long term member of our WI. Margaret always had a warm smile for those she met and will be very much missed.
A few women of Creekside WI helped create a warm and welcoming gathering, preparing a beautiful spread of homemade cakes, sandwiches and refreshments for everyone to enjoy while sharing stories, memories and moments of Margaret's life. The tables were dressed with beautiful flower displays.
Thank you to Jan, Ann, Carole & Marion for setting up and creating an amazing spread and also to Mary for her lovely lemon drizzle cake and Cheryl for her famous plain and cheese scones.
Woven Images & Greetings was honoured to create a beautiful memorial tribute, bringing together treasured photographs , family memories and meaningful words to tell the story of Margaret's life.
With heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed their time, kindness and personal touches to make Margaret's farewell so special.
Our love and sympathy go to her husband Bert and her lovely family.
