Creekside ladies love their book club!
The monthly book club was lovely as usual. (May’s gathering). We discussed Husbands by Holly Gramazio. Opinions varied from ‘…one of the most boring books I have ever read.’ to ‘I found it fascinating and a page turner. I marvelled at the author’s imagination.’ It is basically about a lady who wants to find a companion. She sends the gentlemen she isn’t fond of up into the attic to get rid of them causing another one to come down the loft ladder. Scores ranged between 10 and 4 with an overall score of 5.5.

Creekside ladies and coffee.

Creekside ladies love a good coffee morning accompanied by cake and beautiful peonies. Most of our new committee were there plus some hard working minions who were just enjoying themselves this morning. Anyone going to look round the shop?
Thanks to Harvey Browns, a great venue for a coffee and chat.

May Amble with Creekside WI

Yes here we are again, stretching our legs and enjoying some fabulous fresh air on a harbour walk and in the countryside.
Unfortunately we had no sightings of any of the listed birds but we did see a young bull and some beautiful scenery.
The walk was dry, fun with great company and a great lunch. Thanks ladies, see you next time. .

Creekside Kurling with Binstead WI.
Great food again! Thanks Lisa. A bit of practice time and we’re off.
We needed some wellie this evening to cope with a slightly longer distance. Well done Sylvia, … right on the bull! ….. and Lisa!
Oh no! It’s gone from 4 to the blues to 1 for the reds in one push.
Tea
More ‘Ooooooos and aaaaaahs’. Oh no! Another score of 4 to the blues then 1 to the reds in a push. How do they do it?
Final score was 8 for the blues and 4 to the reds.
Thanks for a great evening. It was such fun. Come back soon.

Time to Amble!
It was a misty grey morning when 5 of us Creekside WI ladies set off on our monthly amble.
As we reached our destination, out came the sunshine. The views from the Mountjoy graveyard almost overtook the expectancy of seeing the cowslips. We recognised Newport Minster, Osbourne House and Carisbrooke church in the distance before walking on to view the cowslips and stopping to look at so many different styles of head stones as we made our way down the hill.
Lunch at the priory was very welcome ,the bluebells in the garden were stunning, the red squirrel was very elusive as he kept moving further away as we tried to take a photograph. Camera shy for sure!
Another enjoyable amble and thank you ladies for coming along.
Next month we hope to go to Newtown Salt Flats, a very flat walk of approximately 2 miles with lunch afterwards .
Why not come along and join us.

Happy Easter with Creekside WI
We do love an Easter Tea especially when there is a wonderful spread, good company and entertainment. Well entertainment? We had a Sweet Quiz which was very revealing. High scorers obviously know their sweets and are probably of a certain age. Pin the Tail on the Donkey turned out to be Draw a Dot on the Rabbit and Pass the Parcel became pass the basket containing a lot of Easter eggs with forfeits and prizes. We all had a jolly good laugh! Thanks everyone of you for a smashing afternoon.

Creekside WI April Bookclub
In Memoriam By Alice Winn
A very cleverly written book; you were there from the first page. We all have an idea of what the soldiers suffered in the First World War. In this book you really suffered with them. Discussion ranged across the need to go to war? Words and phrases like fodder, chaos, brutal, trauma, ‘Over by Christmas. ‘Why did they go? Housed, fed’ heroic, ‘Just get on with it!’ all came up.
‘I really enjoyed it couldn’t put it down.’Cleverly written explaining clearly what it was like.’ ‘It’s is written beautifully.’ We also compared and contrasted with our children’s lives now and the lack of understanding of traumatic stress syndrome. It’s a lesson on love and loss.

Jingle bells with Creekside WI.
A big welcome to Julie, Sandra, Barbara, Simone and Woodie the show cocker spaniel. Mince pies, mulled wine and a jolly good sing along was a great start to the Christmas Season. Thanks to the Methodist Ukulele Group for making the evening go with a swing, our committee for the decorations and organisation and Woodie for just being cute. Merry Christmas to everyone.
