💙 A very special thank you 💙

We have received the most wonderful message from a family who chose to remember their much-loved stepdad, Michael James, by collecting donations for Wings and Paws at his funeral.

Michael sadly passed away on 29th August, and his family raised an incredible £258.30 for our animals. 🐾❤️

We are truly honoured that, during such a difficult time, Michael's family chose to turn their loss into something that will help animals in need.

Every penny donated will go towards caring for the animals in our rescue - providing food, veterinary treatment, medication and everything else they need while waiting for their forever homes.

From all of us at Wings and Paws, and especially all the animals who will benefit from this incredibly kind donation...

🐾💙 MEET STAN 💙🐾

This handsome little chap is Stan, and he’s now looking for a very special forever home of his own. 🥰

Stan has had a difficult start in life, so he needs someone who understands that trust takes time and who will allow him to settle at his own pace.

Stan is vaccinated, microchipped, flea & worm treated and is house trained. He's around 9 years old.
He's a cuddle bug who loves fuss and curling up beside you on the sofa 🐾He even likes to sleep with you! 🥹

Stan can be a little protective of his person and isn't particularly keen on men initially. It's not that he doesn't like them, he simply needs time to get to know people and feel safe.

He is also not suitable to live with cats or another dog.
He isn't keen on larger dogs when out walking. He can be strong for a little chap and will pull and bark if he sees another dog, so his new owner will need to be physically capable of handling him. The good news is that if you simply carry on walking, he soon loses interest and carries on with his day. ❤️

🏡 So what sort of home are we looking for?

Ideally, Stan needs an adult home with someone who is around for most of the day. A retired person or someone who spends lots of time at home would be perfect.

We'd prefer a quieter household without lots of different people coming and going, such as regular carers, as Stan may find this unsettling.

He'll need someone patient, confident and understanding who will give him the time he needs to build trust and settle into his new life.

He absolutely has so much love to give once he knows you're his person. ❤️

🐴🏆 LOOK AT OUR HERCULES! 🏆🐴

Our gorgeous Hercules had a VERY exciting weekend as he took part in his first ever horse show! 🥹💙

We are SO incredibly proud of Hercs and his new little rider, who were absolutely amazing together. 🥰🐴

From rescue to rosettes... just look at him go! 🥹❤️

A huge well done to both of you - what a fantastic achievement and what a wonderful start to your adventures together! 🏆🐴💫

🐾🖤 MILDRED - NOW IT'S HER TURN 🖤🐾

For months, Mildred has been busy being a brilliant mum.

She came into our care pregnant, raised her beautiful kittens and gave them the best start in life. She’s been gentle, patient and devoted throughout it all… but now her babies are growing up and finding their own families, Mildred's story is only just beginning. ❤️

At around 2 years old, this gorgeous girl is ready to put motherhood behind her and enjoy the quieter things in life.

A comfy bed.
A sunny windowsill. ☀️
Plenty of gentle fuss.
And absolutely NO tiny humans or furry housemates demanding her attention! 😂

Mildred is looking for a quiet, peaceful home where she will be the only pet and there are no children. She deserves a home where she can relax, settle at her own pace and finally be someone's baby instead of being responsible for everyone else. 🥹🐾

She has spent so long giving everything to her kittens.

🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️ OKAY... WE NEED TO HAVE A LITTLE CHAT. 👀

It’s been a little over a WEEK since we told you that Gemma & Luke are running a HALF MARATHON for Wings and Paws...

And the grand total raised so far is looking a little... awkward. 😂

We're no longer at £0...

These two absolute lunatics have been training their socks off for months to take on 21.1KM on 25th October.

They've already completed FOUR 10K races this year, alongside all the early morning runs, late night training, gym sessions and miles and miles of pounding the pavements.

They've trained through heatwaves. ☀️
They've trained through snow. ❄️
They've trained through rain. 🌧️
They've trained when their legs have been screaming at them to SIT DOWN. 😂

And now they're just over 4 weeks away from running TWICE as far as their first ever race last year.

What on earth were they thinking?! 😂

But they're not doing it just for the medal.
They're doing it for Wings and Paws. 🐾❤️

Every penny raised will help our rescue animals, whether that's food, litter, veterinary treatment or all the other costs involved in keeping a rescue going.

So we're putting the begging bowl back out. 🥺

If 20 people donated £5, that's another £100 for the animals.

🐾🩷 MEET DOLLY 🩷🐾

Say hello to Dolly, our gorgeous little Jack Russell girl who is around 12-18 months old and is now looking for her forever family! 🥹🏡

Dolly is a very loving little girl who adores attention and is happiest when she's with her people. She's also a lovely little walker and does really well on the lead, making her a great companion for walks and adventures. 🐾🩷

🐾 She cannot live with cats or small furries - she does chase them!

Dolly's house training is going really well and she's now almost completely house clean! 🥳 Her new family will need to continue with her training and help her keep improving, but she's doing brilliantly and is clearly learning fast.
And let's be clear - none of this is Dolly's fault. She simply wasn't taught these things before she came into our care. ❤️

She's a young girl who is learning all about being a much-loved family dog, and with patience, consistency and plenty of praise, we're confident she'll continue to flourish. 🥰

Kenny is a lovely, happy little lad with a BIG personality packed into his rather compact Frenchie body! 😂💙

He absolutely LOVES children and enjoys being around people, but he's also VERY bouncy and excitable, so we're looking for a home with children aged 10+ who can cope with his enthusiasm and help him continue learning his manners.

🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️ FROM ZERO TO... HALF MARATHON?! 😳

Last year, our volunteers Gemma & Luke went from zero to hero, talked themselves into running a local 10k which somehow managed to turn into 13k by the time the event actually happened! 😂

So what have they been up to since?

Well... they hinted earlier this year that something BIG was coming, then went suspiciously quiet. 👀

Turns out they've been running their socks off. Quite literally.

Because on 25th October, they're taking on a HALF MARATHON! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️🔥

Early mornings. Late nights. Hours on their feet. Gym sessions. Training in every sort of weather imaginable.

🌞 Heatwave? Still trained.
❄️ Snow? Still trained.
🌧️ Rain? Still trained.
😩 Legs screaming? Yep. still trained!

They've already completed 4 x 10k races this year, with the medals... and blisters... to prove it! 🏅😂

But now comes the big one.

21.1km.

Just over 5 weeks to go! 😳

Are they pooping it just a little bit? 💩

OMG YES. 😂

Are they going to do it anyway?

HELL YES! 💪🔥

And they're doing it to raise vital funds for Wings and Paws Animal Rescue. 🐶🐱🐴❤️
