WOW… what a response!
We’ve been absolutely overwhelmed with requests to join 1290 (Wednesfield) Squadron over the last few months.

We’re delighted by the level of interest in what we do, but unfortunately, we have now reached our maximum capacity for the September 2026 intake and have started a waiting list.

If you have applied to join us at any point over the last 12 months, please check your email inbox (and junk/spam folder) for an important update from us as we haven't been able to offer everybody a place.

There’s no need to contact the squadron just yet — please check your emails first.

A huge thank you to everyone who has shown an interest in joining 1290. The demand has been incredible, and it’s fantastic to see so many young people wanting to get involved with the RAF Air Cadets.

✈️🎖️ MONDAY NIGHT OPERATIONS — MISSION ACCOMPLISHED! 🎖️🍻

Well, troops… that’s Monday night officially in the logbook! 🫡

And what a cracking evening we’ve had at Wolverhampton RAFA Branch! No meetings. No minutes. No paperwork. No tactical briefings.

Just proper RAF-style chit-chat, plenty of refreshments, plenty of laughter and a healthy amount of nonsense! 😂🍻

Then Robert decided to get involved with the musical programme and selected a few rather good tunes… 🎶

Of course, Chris was the man behind the music box, so before long we had gone from a quiet Monday social to what could only be described as “Radio Wolverhampton RAFA — broadcasting things we probably shouldn’t!” 🤣📻

So, we’re thinking…

🎶 NEXT MONDAY COULD BE REQUEST NIGHT! 🎶

Got a favourite song you haven’t heard for years?
A proper old classic?
A tune that takes you straight back to your younger days?

Or perhaps something so gloriously ridiculous that you think the RAF should probably never have allowed it to be played? 😂

Bring your requests along and Chris can bring the music box back out of retirement! 🎵🫡

For tonight, however, the squadron is standing down.

Lights out. Boots off. Glasses empty. Mission complete. 🍻😂

🇬🇧✈️ MONDAY ORDERS: REPORT FOR SOCIAL DUTIES! 🍻

Well, troops… hope you’ve all had a good weekend and survived Monday without too many casualties! 😂

It’s the start of a brand-new week, so hopefully you’ve all made it through your first day at work without handing in your notice, going AWOL or hiding in the stationery cupboard! 🤣

We’re OPEN TONIGHT from 7:30pm–10pm 🍻

And before anyone gets their notebook out… NO MEETING TONIGHT! 😆
Just a good old-fashioned RAFA social. Come down, have a drink, have a natter and put the world to rights with some good company. ❤️✈️

Well… you lot have clearly been busy! 👏

Our Autumn Craft Fair, Christmas Craft Fair AND Winter Fest are now COMPLETELY FULL! 🎄🍂🎅

We have officially MAXED OUT ON STALLS! 🙌

A massive well done to all our stallholders — we can’t wait to have you with us! 👏❤️

Now we just need the rest of you lovely people to turn up and support them! 😉😂

📅 Dates are all on the poster on the wall, so get them in your diary, calendar, phone, fridge door… tattooed on your arm if necessary! 🤣

✈️🍂 FRIDAY HAS LANDED — WEEKLY SURVIVAL MISSION ACCOMPLISHED! 🍂✈️

Right, lovely people… it’s Friday! 🎉

We’ve made it through another week, and quite frankly, I think we deserve a medal. 🏅😂

So… how was your week?

Was it:
🫡 Mission accomplished?
😵‍💫 A bit of a tactical disaster?
🔥 Stress levels reaching aircraft-engine temperature?
Or were you secretly thinking, “I’m never doing this again!”? 😂

Whatever happened, the important thing is… FRIDAY HAS ARRIVED! 🍻

And here at the Wolverhampton RAFA Branch, the weekend has already started with a little bit of military manoeuvring. 🇬🇧✈️

Today we brought down the Battle of Britain decorations, because tomorrow we are apparently going straight from September into AUTUMN MODE! 🍂🎃

Think oranges, browns, pumpkins and all those lovely autumnal bits and bobs. 🎃🍁🍂

Then there is the small matter of the holiday suitcases. 🧳✈️

Normally, I have a list.

Not just a list…
A spreadsheet. 😂

Everything organised. Everything planned. Everything ready.

This year?

Absolutely nothing. 🤦‍♀️😂

The suitcases haven't even seen daylight yet, and we're off on holiday soon!

Clearly the command structure has broken down. 🫡😂

But tonight? Stand down.

I've cooked tea, and we're having a very traditional sausage and mash for a Friday night. 🌭🥔

Then it's feet up, television on, absolutely nothing productive whatsoever… and possibly a little drink. 🍫📺

Although, in my case, my usual tipple is water with a slice of lemon.

So tonight I'm going wild.

TWO slices of lemon. 🍋🍋

Honestly… somebody stop me. 😂

And there might even be a little bit of chocolate involved. 🍫

So come on, Wolverhampton…
