A great morning on the square yesterday. Lots of interest in the memorabilia and the foals. And a few new members which is excellent. We’re on our way to achieving 100 members for our centenary year 🎉 and we made £116 on the cake raffle. I’m sure the lucky winner enjoyed a slice with a cuppa yesterday afternoon 🎂

81 years ago, millions in the Allied nations celebrated the end of the Second World War in Europe.

Whilst fighting continued in the Far East until August, Victory in Europe Day was a significant moment in bringing an end to the global conflict.

Up and down the country people breathed a sigh of relief and took to the streets to celebrate.

Today we pay tribute to the Second World War generation, whose service and sacrifice protected the freedoms we enjoy today.

One sunny evening last week, little garden fairies went into the rec and planted lots of poppy seeds around the war memorial for us all to enjoy. Can’t wait to see them when they grow 🌺
