More than forty people came to our screening of the People's Emergency Briefing (the shortened version of the National Emergency Briefing) yesterday evening. If you missed it and want to know where you can see it, check the interactive screening map at https://www.nebriefing.org/screening-map

There are now screenings of the People's Emergency Briefing in Ireland, Germany, France and Belgium - and Guernsey and Jersey - as well as further afield: Croatia, Malaysia, New Zealand and Australia. Fantastic to see this spreading.

Governments are not being transparent with the public about the severe threats to society posed by climate change and nature loss.

Until that changes, civil society is stepping up. Thank you to the thousands of people involved.

If you know anyone outside the UK who might want to screen the film, please could you share this link with them: https://www.nebriefing.org/host-the-film

In November, all MPs were invited to a 2 hour National Emergency Briefing by a panel of leading experts on the climate and nature crisis. At this event we will show an abridged video version of the briefing to be followed by a discussion facilitated by Laura Tyley and Georgia Faid on how we can respond constructively. With thanks to Wincanton Quakers for co-hosting this event.

You can book for this event via the QR code below or via this link https://www.eventbrite.com/.../peoples-emergency-briefing

We held a very successful plant swap outside Wincanton Library yesterday and lots of plants changed hands. Thank you to everyone who brought, exchanged or rehomed plants and also to those who kindly made cash donations. These will be used to buy plants for one of our 'wilding' projects. Thank you especially to The Growing Space and to Charlton Musgrove Plant Sale committee who donated a lot of plants to start our swap off.

We met up with Alan Wells from Pitcombe Rock Falconry today to check out a couple of potential sites for a tawny owl box through their owl box project http://prfalconry.co.uk/owlboxproject/. We haven't found a good site yet, or at least not one we can have access to. As well as finding the right site for an owl box itself the conditions need to be good for field voles which are their main food source. We learnt quite a bit though and will keep looking.

Everything we do has an impact on the Earth - positive or negative.

Everything we do has an impact on the Earth - positive or negative.

Perspective changes everything.

In 1968, William Anders took the famous “Earthrise” photo during Apollo 8. That single image sparked a global movement, leading to the very first Earth Day in 1970 and a wave of environmental legislation.

This month, as we look at the fresh perspective captured by Reid Wiseman during the Artemis II mission - the first crewed flyby of the moon in over 50 years - we are reminded of the same truth: our planet is a fragile, shared home.

History shows that when we change our perspective, we change our policy. It’s time to see the big picture again.

We're delighted to hear that 454 local Co-op members have chosen us as their local cause. Thank you to those 454 people! If you're a Co-op member and you haven't yet chosen a cause then please consider choosing One Planet Wincanton. Every time you buy something in the Co-op branch on Wincanton High Street or the one in Templecombe then the Co-op will add a little more to our funding .... and it all adds up!

We're delighted to announce that we've been accepted to receive part of this coming year's Local Community Fund. Download the Co-op App https://coopapp.onelink.me/ftOk/momhsye3 or go online at https://account.coop.co.uk/sign-in?
