Free Willow Weaving Workshop at Growing@ Grove Park

We are working with Super Culture and Mendip Hills National Landscape to host a brilliant workshop! Join us on Tuesday 10th November at 10am-12pm for a free willow-weaving workshop to help create a gathering of bumblebees. The bees will be displayed at Tyntesfield National Trust as part of their winter display and we will be invited to see the magical artwork we’ve helped to create.

When the warmer weather comes, trips will be arranged to visit the bees and enjoy more activities in the Mendip Hills National Landscape, a beautiful countryside on the doorstep of Weston with dramatic hills, caves, ancient woods, grasslands, history, wildlife, and plenty of adventure.

All materials will be provided and we will be guided through the activity step by step by a willow artist.

Feel free to bring your ideas for future creative nature activities you’d like to take part in.

We raised the gazebo roof with Mamma Mia last Monday. This Monday 2nd November we will be singing Annie's Song, American Pie, The Wild Rover, I'm a Believer and Ain't No Sunshine. Work begins to restore Grove Park ornamental pond 🥳

Restoration work on the pond and fountain in Grove Park starts today (Monday 26 October) , helping to preserve one of Weston-super-Mare's most recognisable park features for future generations.

Local contractor LPMG Contracting will carry out the work, which will include:

🧰 removing the existing pond liner and replacing it with a new flexible lining
🧰 removing the existing fountain water pump chamber
🧰 installing a replacement water pump in a new location to accommodate an updated water intake system
🧰 restoring the pond's fountain.

We’re delivering the project in partnership with Weston-super-Mare Town Council and Weston-super-Mare Civic Society, all three of our organisations contributing towards the cost of the restoration.

The project follows extensive work by our three organisations to secure funding and develop a sustainable solution for the pond. We will oversee the works on behalf of the partnership.

Grove Park is a large late 19th century town centre public park located around 250 meters east of Weston’s seafront. It’s a varied site made up of floral bedding areas, lawns, tree-lined walks, rock gardens, a children’s play area, ponds and a Grade-II Listed octagonal bandstand.
