Counties is a network of people and resources who want to make Jesus known across the UK by inspiring and equipping local churches.

Our vision is to make Jesus known across the UK. For more than 100 years, Counties has been sharing the good news of Jesus Christ with communities across the country. We do this through three main areas of our work – evangelists , training and resources. Evangelists work in counties across England and Wales in a variety of activities. These include: church planting, leading school assemblies, visiting prisons, witnessing at agricultural shows, leading holiday clubs and camps, manning market stalls, running café churches and evangelism courses and community door-to-door visiting. Counties equips the church through its extensive range of training. Day conferences, seminars, workshops, as well as one-to-one mentoring sessions are held throughout the year to help churches grow through evangelism and local mission. From major mobile exhibitions through to books and leaflets for the individual, there are plenty of Counties resources available to help people share the good news. Our innovative Life and GSUS Live exhibitions have reached thousands of school children with the story of Jesus. Counties people (Evangelists) work locally - often in a county or alongside a church; several have a national brief. Some work with young people others among the marginalised or in education. It’s difficult to describe a typical Counties Evangelist as each develops a work that plays to their strength. However, sharing ‘making Jesus known across the UK’ is the heartbeat of each Counties Evangelist.

Throughout October, Counties evangelist Lee Marsland has joined up with churches for open-air evangelism events and walks that include carrying a cross.

Counties evangelists & planters come from a variety of backgrounds, but all have sensed a personal calling to develop their evangelistic ministry using their God-given gifts in a county.

What's happening at Counties in November?
As our evangelists begin to gear up for Christmas, our schools resources, GSUS Live and The LIFE Exhibition, will continue to be out on the road as teams share the Good News with students across primary and secondary schools.

We're also looking forward to returning to NYMW with Youthscape later this month. If you're planning to be there too, come over to our stand and say hi!

How do you connect with secondary schools?

John Procter is Director of Catalyst Youth Trust and uses GSUS Live to build relationships between churches, schools and communities across his region.

This spring, John hosted the programme across three schools and this tour carried something new. Typically aimed at KS3 students, this run extended to Years 10 and 11, bringing GSUS Live to older teenagers navigating GCSEs, identity, and the pressures of adolescence.

Counties evangelists Andy and Rachel Mugford recently hosted an over-50s week away at Sizewell Hall.

Andy says: Over 50 of us gathered for our "Autumn Break" - from churches across East Anglia and even the south coast. Ian Moore led our teaching sessions each morning on "The Presence of God". Our hearts and minds were warmed and encouraged to live our lives in the truth of God being with us by His Holy Spirit.

Alongside these very special times, we had Mölkky, boules and conker competitions in the beautiful grounds of Sizewell Hall. One of our guests ran an art workshop using acrylics, while time was also spent visiting local attractions including Southwold, Aldeburgh and the RSPB Minsmere reserve.

We ate like kings and queens courtesy of our volunteer team of cooks and who worked so hard for us. It was a taste of heaven as we prayed together each morning, as well as opportunities to talk and pray with each other about things we are facing."

What does harvest mean in today’s world?

Counties evangelist, John Hardwick, recently led RE Enrichment Days at Holy Trinity School, Eight Ash Green, and All Saints School, Fordham, exploring a world of harvest, happiness, hurt, hunger and ultimately hope.

Using music, juggling, interactive Bible stories, puppets, and reflection, John helped pupils discover that God calls us to be caretakers, not just takers, of the world He loves. Both schools engaged brilliantly with the assemblies and follow-up sessions, making for a memorable day of learning and exploration.

Counties' church planter, Graham Jack, recently led a church weekend at Sizewell Hall, bringing together 66 people from four churches for a time of worship, teaching, prayer and fellowship.

Centred on Jesus' invitation in John 15 to "remain in me", the weekend explored how staying close to Christ transforms our lives and enables us to bless those around us. The group returned home encouraged and excited to keep looking to Jesus, drawing life from Him, and seeing that life overflow into their churches and communities.
