Children are facing a Social media ban. ‘How are they going to talk to their friends?’ ‘How are they going to fill their time?’ ‘There’s nowhere safe for them to meet outside their homes’ ….
Here’s an idea:- register them to join us in Rainbows, Brownies, Guides, and Rangers. In Newton we have plenty of vacancies for September. ( ask about a visit this term)
And if you are an adult who agrees that they should spend time away from screens, come and volunteer with us - any help welcome, from
being in charge of a unit, helping at one occasionally, cooking at camp, to an admin role in your own home in your own time.

The Guides are looking for donations of a couple of their neckerchiefs. (pale blue with a purple border) if any former guide is willing to donate theirs back to us, we'd be very grateful.

Guides and Rangers had a day camp in glorious sunshine at Hadlow Fields.

9 camp badges earned.
We had an Earth Day theme so took particular note of the birds and mini beasts around.

Lots of camp skills; cooking outdoors; a trail; a game, and a camp fire.

A couple of lucky Guides went to Liverpool University yesterday to learn how new medicines are created.
Lots of science experiments, and an opportunity to meet girls from units all over Merseyside.

**Update: we have 1 volunteer! Will you be the 2nd? **
As Barny Owl retires we need a TEAM to take her place! At least 2 or 3 ladies to share the leadership of a lovely bunch of Brownies. You don't need any previous experience. You don't need to be a star at anything, or have lots of ideas - there are hundreds of activity cards to choose from. (but you can share your own hobbies and knowledge too.)
Support and training will be provided, and, if you express an interest soon, you can come along and see what's involved before committing.
You'll gain a qualification, learn new skills, make friends and most importantly - make a positive difference in the lives of today's girls.
We give them a safe space to learn and develop, and teach them that Girls Can Do Anything!
To express your interest, / find out more contact us on here, or go to https://www.girlguiding.org.uk/get-involved/become-a-volunteer/

Our wonderful, talented, indefatigable Barny Owl will be retiring this summer after over 40 years volunteering in Newton.
If you have memories of her, whether it’s munching on a ‘Marriot Cake’, singing or a skill you learned which you still remember today, please do get in touch to share them with us.
Here's Barry Owl with JS at a recent STEM training session.

We are nearing the end of the Spring term. A number of girls in Brownies and Guides will be saying their goodbyes, collecting their final badges and moving up to the next Section.
This means that there are vacancies for April in the Brownie, Guide and Ranger Units.
(Rainbows - 4 to 7yr olds usually have a waiting list, so don't wait until they are 4 or even 5 to apply)
Brownies 7 to 10 yr olds, Guides 10 to 14 yr olds, Rangers 14 to 18 yr olds.
Girls don't have to live in Newton, as long as they can reach our meeting place.

Do you know a girl who'd like to come and see what we do?
Get in touch, or fill in the enquiry form on the Girlguiding website.
