local Girlguiding for girls aged 5 to 105

Wednesday Brownies return this week with their new leader. She has lots of fun activities planned. Parents - you can help her by making sure you let her know if your daughter can’t attend a meeting, pay subs promptly, return forms, and by volunteering for the occasional helpers list.
There’s a new Brownie uniform available but girls can still wear their current uniforms until they grow out of them.

The Guides and Rangers, and 5 leaders are safely back from a great day at Alton Towers.

It's end-of-holidays-update time...

Our Rainbow Unit will be meeting on Mondays instead of Thursdays from now on. All parents have been informed.

2nd Newton Brownies will have a delayed start this term until the new leader is ready to take over.

The Rainbow and Brownie Units are now full for next term, and new enquiries will need to be added to the waiting list. (NB parents - register your daughter ASAP!)

Guides and Ranger units do have vacancies. They are small units and they may suit some girls better than larger ones.

We are very short of leaders, and so are recruiting a team of 'Occasional Volunteers' who could attend and support at single meetings or events. If you are willing to join this list, please tell your daughter's leader or , if you aren't a current member's parent, complete the enquiry form on the Girlguiding website. www.girlguiding.org.uk

We had some work done on the HQ today. a whole list of those little jobs that will, together, make life easier for us, such as the cupboard door that now slides, and the light timer which (we hope) won't get stuck ON this winter.

1 week left before school starts. Have you had a go at any of the interest badges before homework starts again?
Maybe you have been looking at the wildlife around you. There's a badge to earn for each age group! Message your leader to find out what is required. (if you don't have a badge book)

Say hello to our new District President.

At the end of term the Guides came in their uniforms (mostly) for a last photo before the new uniform era begins.
They played games and had a sharing picnic in the park.
Have a great holiday girls, see you in September.

We are delighted at last to see the full range of our new Uniforms.
For Parents - Girls can wear their existing uniforms while they fit, or until the clothes fall to pieces.

The Rainbows and Brownies are really colourful, the Guides upwards more subdued (this is what the overwhelming majority asked for).

Help needed!
The guides were in Newton Park last night and one has lost an item. It’s part of a necklace. A circular piece of metal about 3 cm diameter with designs on (she made it)

If anyone is playing on the field, (not the football one) or walking their dog there and finds it, please let us know. And please spread the word. 🙏🏻

Wednesday saw the last Brownie Meeting run by Barny Owl. There were lots of visitors, including Border Morris Friends who came to teach the girls a couple of dances.

With sizzling sausages, friends old and new, Guiding volunteers, and the County President (who just happens to have been a Newton Brownie and Guide) we gave her a splendid send off.
Wren, who did most of the organising, is taking over the running of the Brownies in September.
