Welcome to the "Art in the Park" page. Artists and crafters wishing to sell at the event can sell from walled alcoves inside the gardens of from the grass lawn. The alcoves are allocated on a first come basis on the day of the fair with no pre-booking needed. Please read on for further details. "Art in the Park" is a free to the public open air art fair which takes place on the third Sunday of every month from May to September. Official fair time is from 12 noon - 5pm. Run on behalf of the "Friends of Coronation Gardens", it gives artists a venue and opportunity to sell their work with all of the proceeds of the cheap £10 stallholder fee going to the "Friends of Coronation Gardens" and the upkeep of the public gardens. Artists and crafters rent alcoves in the perimeter wall of the gardens on the day of the fair and taught wires are strung across the rear of the alcoves from which to hang works of art. Although the wires are checked and maintained regularly, artwork is hung at the artists own risk and common sense is expected regarding the weight of pieces hung. This is a relaxed, friendly and quirky art event and alcoves are taken on a first come basis with no reserving of alcoves allowed. If you spot an unoccupied alcove with a reserved sign in it then remove it and use it. When planning for the fair, simply take a look at the weather forecast, occupy any unoccupied alcove, set out your stall and sell with the £10 fee collected during the afternoon of the fair. No pre-booking is required and will not be granted in fairness to all artists. There are 21 alcoves, 9 of them deep with the remaining shallow but you're free to erect a gazebo or table on the grass so long as it is done safely. There is plenty of room. This is an open air seaside event so be prepared for a sea breeze even on the calmest and brightest of days. The gardens are walled and the alcoves offer only minimal protection from the wind and any showers therefore be sure to protect yourself and your artwork from the elements. Coronation Gardens is sandwiched between Banks Road and South Parade in West Kirby, Wirral, opposite West Kirby Marine Lake. The "Art in the Park" dates for 2017 are Sunday 21st May, Sunday 18th June, Sunday 16th July, Sunday 20th August and Sunday 17th September .... weather permitting. The fairs are officially open between 12 noon and 5 pm and casual artists need to set up early to avoid the disappointment of not getting an alcove of their choice but as the gardens are open to the public all day you are likely to find buyers before 12 noon.
