WKCIL established Scotland's first Craft & Design town (now known as Craft Town Scotland) as the core element of a suite of initiatives aimed at revitalising the town centre. AIMS: Arts & Cultural Development
- to have West Kilbride recognised as a centre for quality and distinctiveness in craft and design
- to stimulate wider interest in the arts, crafts and design and provide a basis for commu

nity learning and participation
- to provide studio space and gallery outlets for graduate and professional makers / designers
- to establish and develop a major regional facility that provides craft exhibitions, education and activities
- to attract other artistic and cultural initiatives to the town, to complement the established craft and design businesses
