☕ What makes somewhere feel like home?
I've been thinking about this quite a lot recently.
Perhaps it's your favourite chair, a warm drink, familiar surroundings or simply being somewhere you can relax and be yourself.
There's a Danish word for that lovely feeling of comfort and contentment - hygge.
And it got me wondering…
Could we bring a little more hygge into everyday life in care homes?
Not by filling the activities calendar with even more things to do, but by noticing those little moments that help people feel comfortable, connected and that they belong.
Because there's quite a difference between making somewhere look homely and helping someone feel at home.
