Subject: Supporting Affordable Community Care While Strengthening Our Impact

Dear [Recipient’s Name / Supporter / Community Partner],

We are writing on behalf of Wellingborough Community Friends Café, a small charity with a big mission: to support individuals and families living on the breadline by providing affordable meals, a safe space, and a sense of community.

Every day, we see firsthand the growing need in our community. Rising living costs are placing increased pressure on the people we serve—many of whom rely on our café not just for food, but for connection, dignity, and support. Like many organisations, we are also facing higher operating costs. Under normal circumstances, we would consider raising our prices to remain sustainable. However, we are deeply committed to keeping our café accessible to those who need it most.

It’s important to us to share that our café is open to everyone—you do not have to be on the breadline to visit. By choosing to eat or drink with us, customers who are able to pay are directly helping to support those in our community who are struggling, as all income goes back into sustaining our services and supporting those most in need.

Rather than increasing prices, we are exploring creative ways to increase the value of what we offer while maintaining affordability. Our goal is to strengthen our impact without placing additional burden on our community.

To achieve this, we are considering several initiatives:

- “Pay It Forward” Scheme: Encouraging those who are able to contribute a little extra to help cover meals for others in need.
- Community Partnerships: Collaborating with local businesses and organisations for sponsorships, surplus food donations, or shared resources.
- Membership or Supporter Program: Offering optional monthly contributions from supporters in exchange for small perks or recognition, helping provide steady funding.
- Grant Funding & Local Sponsorship: Expanding outreach to secure funding that allows us to keep prices low while sustaining operations.

We believe that value is not only measured in price, but in the strength of community, kindness, and shared responsibility. By working together, we can continue to provide essential support without compromising accessibility.

We would greatly appreciate your support, ideas, or partnership in helping us achieve this. Whether through collaboration, funding, or simply spreading the word, every contribution helps us continue this vital work.

Thank you for taking the time to read our letter and for your continued support of our community.

Warm regards,
Yvonne lawson
