The Whiteley Homes Trust

The Whiteley Homes Trust We offer independent living for older people in need, in almshouses and flats in Whiteley Village. The ethos of collaboration runs through everything we do.

Whiteley Village, near Walton on Thames is set in 230 acres of beautiful Surrey woodland. The Village provides homes to nearly 500 older people of limited means and is managed by The Whiteley Homes Trust (registered charity 1103056). The Trust’s role is to enable our residents to be as independent as possible and contribute where they can to Village life. Our committed team of employees delivers h

ome help, nursing and end of life support to our residents, in addition to pastoral care, housing and benefit advice and property management. Residents, family members, friends employees and volunteers work together with enthusiasm to run the Village and plan for its future. There is a strong sense of togetherness, belonging, care and neighbourliness. Everyone in the Village is a valued member of our community and benefits from the mutual support which brings happiness and security in later years. Our residents enjoy sharing experiences and developing friendships. There are many activities available to those who come to the Village with over 20 clubs run by the residents including water fitness, golf, bowls, putting, mahjong, and photography. New approaches to care, sustainable accommodation, and meeting the demands of modern society are all part of our ambition. Our vision is to be one of the best places to age in Britain. 🌿 Volunteer Woodland Ranger– Whiteley Village 🌿

Do you love nature, walking, and making a positive difference to others? We’re looking for friendly, community minded volunteers to help us keep our beautiful woodland and pathways safe, welcoming, and enjoyable for everyone who uses them from residents and visitors to our many dog walkers. It’s also a great opportunity to develop new skills, meet new people, and be part of a supportive village community.

This is a lovely, outdoorsy role where you’ll be a reassuring presence around the village, helping people enjoy the woodland safely while supporting our conservation and wellbeing activities.

You’ll spend time walking the woodland trails, keeping an eye out for hazards, offering a warm hello to visitors, and helping residents feel confident and supported when out and about. You may also help with guided walks, light environmental care, and sharing simple information about the village and its pathways.

We’ll give you an induction and any training you need, and you’ll be part of a friendly, welcoming community. It’s a flexible role around 4–6 hours a week and perfect for someone who enjoys being outdoors, meeting people, and contributing to a place with a strong sense of community. And if you have a well behaved dog, they’re more than welcome to join you on your rounds.

If you’d like to spend more time in nature while making a genuine difference to the lives of our residents, we’d love to hear from you.
