Walton Charity

Walton Charity Building a thriving Elmbridge community Walton Charity is a local charitable foundation. We monitor our page from Monday to Friday.

Working with our community and our partners, we want to build an Elmbridge community free from poverty where we can all thrive. We offer grants to individuals and families in Elmbridge who need financial assistance and award community grants to local charities, schools and organisations tackling poverty and inequality in Elmbridge. We also provide independent living accommodation to people aged ov

er 55 and social housing for single people at risk of homelessness. We make our allotments, woodlands and green spaces available for local people and community groups. You can also contact us directly through our website www.waltoncharity.org.uk.

A big thank you to Three Rivers Academy for raising £291.65 towards our More Than A Meal Appeal which has helped to fund our new community hub The Bridge @ Church Farm.

The Bridge supports working families struggling with the cost of living across Elmbridge and incorporates a new membership-based Local Pantry, enabling those who need it to access affordable, nutritious groceries and household essentials.

We had a lovely visit from Walton Oak School this morning, who came to find out more about minibeasts at Space to Grow, our community gardening space at Home Farm Allotments in Rydens Road.

Pupils learnt about different types of minibeasts (and searched for them!) Plus, they made seed bombs, created minibeast habitats, and even got to sample some peas that had been grown 🌱

A huge thank you to our staff and volunteers who came along to The Big Help Out at Walton Community Allotment today!

We were also joined by students from Ashley Park School, who got stuck in with lots of activities and enjoyed exploring the allotment (especially taking a look at the pond which is home to lots of tiny frogs at the moment 🐸)

Volunteers helped with weeding and clearing areas, planting and harvesting crops - including delicious broad beans! And much more...

It's Volunteers’ Week!

We couldn’t provide many of the services we offer our users, without the amazing support of our Walton Charity Volunteers.

Our new community hub, Church Farm, hosted a housewarming event earlier this week to thank our fantastic volunteers.

Plus, volunteers Simon and Brian unloaded the first delivery of food to The Bridge Pantry!

This is one of 120 Pantries all over the UK. Pantries bring people together around food, soften the impact of high living costs, reduce your shopping bills and give people some much-needed financial wriggle room. They’re also places for local people to meet and chat, lighten the load together, and share ideas that can start making change happen.

Our nature sessions at Space to Grow were enjoyed by families from Home-Start Elmbridge and our community hub, The Bridge, over the May half term break ☀

As it was recently World Bee Day, the sessions were about everything bees! 🐝

Families learnt fabulous facts about bees, took part in a bee hunt, (which identified many bees visiting our garden) made beeswax candles and bee drinking stations.

Plus, they created wildflower seed tags and did some sunflower planting 🌻

We rounded off a hot afternoon with homemade elderflower cordial, honey biscuits and tasted local raw honey 🍯

Thanks to all the families that attended and we hope to see you again in the Summer!

It was busy last week at the community allotment ☀

Although it’s been hot, many of our usual volunteers attended getting busy with seed sowing, planting and watering.

On Friday we had a topsoil delivery from molevalleytopsoils.co.uk with the help of Paddington (scroll to find him 🐾)

Plus homemade elderflower cordial during break, an abundance of sweet peas cut, ladybird poppies loved and bean teepees constructed ready for our runner beans 🌱

Remember it’s our ‘Big Help Out’ this Friday 5th June. We hope to see some new faces there!

This time next week we'll be getting stuck in at 'The Big Help Out' on Friday 5th June at Terrace Road Community Allotment 10am - 4pm!

Can you join us to help? Come for an hour or the whole day, it would be great to see you there.

Register your interest at [email protected].

We are looking for local residents to come together to help with improving our Green Spaces. The allotment is 10 years old this year and we are looking to make some improvements and celebrate in style!

From sowing seeds, to planting out, weeding, creating new paths and upcycling projects - there's something for everyone to get involved with and there will be ample tea and cake on offer!
