The furthest distance traveled to come to our annual family day this year was definitely by Maree Maxfield from Ausdocc - Australian Disorders of the Corpus Callosum 🇦🇺

Maree gave an informative talk about her experiences with Corpus Callosum Disorders, personally through her daughter, as well as through her Ph.D. and work with Australian Disorders of the Corpus Callosum, our charity counterpart down under. 🧠

We are so pleased that Maree Maxfield from Ausdocc - Australian Disorders of the Corpus Callosum is joining us for Corpal's Family Conference on 11th July! ✨

Maree is mother and carer to her adult daughter, Abbie, who has Partial Agenesis of the Corpus Callosum. After decades of frustration with very little knowledge or support, Maree completed a Master of Public Health in 2019 to try to make sense of a health system in which Corpus Callosum Disorders (CCD) were poorly recognised and under-supported. It created more questions than answers.

Maree is currently in the late stages of a PhD examining the impacts of CCD on the quality of life of adults. Her project involves using inclusive research methods to explore personal wellbeing from the perspective of the adults themselves.

Maree is also the secretary and major events coordinator for the Australian support group, AusDoCC, and has been involved since its foundation in 2012. Maree looks forward to meeting families from Corpal and growing our international connections!
