Yorkshire Ambulance Service Charity YAS Charity complements the work of the Yorkshire Ambulance Service
(1)

YAS Charity helps fund a host of fantastic initiatives teaching thousands of people CPR and first aid skills, as well as part-funding Community Public Access Defibrillators in cities, towns, villages, and more rural areas across the region that do not already have access to them. We also support our Community Engagement team to deliver initiatives that help improve the lives of vulnerable people and reduce health inequalities. We help fund the annual YAS Restart a Heart Day which offers CPR training for secondary school children. Since launching in 2014, 234,708 students have learnt CPR during 1,047 school visits thanks to ambulance staff and volunteers who have given 39,213 hours (2014-2024). And we also support the health and wellbeing of Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS) employees and volunteers who help save lives every day. We enhance and promote good physical and mental health amongst our YAS colleagues by providing funding for initiatives that come directly from staff suggestions. Losing a loved one is truly unimaginable. A MuchLoved tribute is one place you can remember the special people in your life. Here you can create a heartfelt tribute page to preserve their memory and cherish the moments shared. It offers a special space for family and friends to visit, remember, and add photos, memories, music, videos and candles. Each page is yours, free, for as long as you wish💝

You can also share details of the funeral, organise events to remember them or fundraise in their memory. And may also consider inviting donations to YAS Charity as a meaningful way to honor your loved one.💝

Establishing a tribute fund is a wonderful way to celebrate their life and share precious memories. Every in-memory donation is incredibly special to us, and we remain forever humbled and deeply thankful for the continued support.🙏

𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽 𝗰𝗹𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗴𝗮𝗽 𝗶𝗻 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗮𝗰 𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝘀𝘂𝗿𝘃𝗶𝘃𝗮𝗹.

YAS Charity has teamed up with YAS Trust to help more people feel confident giving CPR and using a defibrillator on women.

A survey found that one in three people in Britain were afraid to give CPR to a woman because they were concerned about touching breasts. The same survey revealed that 38% would feel uncomfortable using a defibrillator on a woman, as the pads must be placed on bare skin on the chest.

To help address these barriers, YAS Charity has funded new female CPR training manikins. They were used during last Friday’s Restart a Heart Day, when more than 800 off-duty YAS staff and volunteers visited over 160 secondary schools across the region to teach CPR to 35,000 students.

The manikins will be used by the Trust’s Community Engagement Team and volunteers, who deliver thousands of CPR training sessions to people of all ages across the region each year.

By making female manikins part of CPR training, we aim to challenge stigma, build confidence and encourage people to act in those vital first moments after a cardiac arrest.

❤️ Every second counts—and everyone deserves the best chance of survival.❤️
