The film season Cinematic Sanctuary: Stories of Home continues at The Old Town Hall, Trowbridge, on Friday 6 November with the screening of Lost Chapters (Lorena Alvarado, Venezuela, 2024, 67 mins) followed by a remote live Q&A with the director.
"Los capítulos perdidos is a love letter to Caracas, a tender tale of intergenerational relationships, and a book mystery all at the same time” Sarah Friedland
This debut film is a hybrid fiction documentary that explores memory on different levels. It presents the effort to rescue a country's historical memory by recovering the words of lesser-known authors and rare books, while we witness the memory loss of a family member, woven with the director’s childhood memories.
This is also an invitation to enjoy emblematic images of a city through a different angle from those we commonly see recently on the news. If you love books, poetry or just enjoy the beauty of small details and independent international cinema, join us on Friday 6 November.
The Old Town Hall doors and bar will open at 7pm. The event will start promptly at 7.30 pm with a brief introduction before the film, followed by a remote live Q&A with the director.
Is there a book or a poem that connects you with the idea of home? You can bring an object, a book, an old photograph, or something that connects you to your memories of home to share with us! (Completely optional)
