The Elenydd is an area of Mid Wales, in the Cambrian Mountains. A wild and beautiful place, the Elenydd's silence is broken only by a gurgling stream, the bleating of sheep or the call of a bird. The Belted Galloway cattle pictured below are new arrivals on the Tir Natur rewilding site, which is a close neighbour of Tyncornel hostel.
Tir Natur have sent EWH the following information –
Tir Natur welcome people to responsibly explore this land, land of our ancestors, a land for the future.
To do this we ask:
Close all gates (we'd rather re-open them than round up ponies or cattle!)
Keep at least 100m away from livestock. Move away if they approach.
Keep dogs on lead to protect the large number of ground nesting breeding birds.
We advise people not to take dogs in to areas where there are livestock.
