The apples in our Community Garden are growing. Can you believe this project is only a few months old?

A few things which would really help us:
- donated vegetable or cut flower seedlings,
- divided herbaceous perennials from your own garden for our borders.
- Compost or well rotted manure (we have applied to RE3 but it's quite a slow process, they limit donations and we need heaps now for 8 raised beds)
- Plastic propogators (the simple ones you don't plug in. We grow outside all the time and the weather is unpredictable)
- shelving (greenhouse staging) for our plants to grow so they don't get eaten by slugs on the ground or stepped on
- a beautiful cold frame would be a dream. Wooden so it doesn't rust or blow over in the wind and can be fixed easily to fencing.

Message or email us if you think you can help or donate on our website and say what you would like us to spend it on when you checkout.

We run on an absolute shoe string and are reliant on your incredible generosity.

Tea and Trowels - Thursday 21st May 9.30-11.30 for planting, growing and a cuppa.

One off Hazel fencing working party - Thursday 21st May 12.30-2.30.

If you can't make these dates we expect to have more regular slots in a few months time so feel free to get in touch and we can add you to our group anyway.

What a difference a few months makes.

We still have so much to do but are incredibly proud of how far we have come with many many hours of volunteers. Thank you community. 🫶

Garlic Mustard (Jack in the hedge) Pesto
- a handful of garlic mustard (jack in the hedge), collected away from road sides and dog wee spots.
- 3-6 Wild garlic (Ransoms) leaves or 2x fresh garlic cloves
- 100g sunflower seeds
- as much good olive oil as you can muster (I used 1/3cup)
- celery salt (or regular salt) and pepper to taste

1) Pick garlic mustard, shake bugs off, rinse in cold water and rescue any bugs, then blanch in boiling water for 2 minutes.
2) Blitz in food processor with sunflower seeds till right consistency. Add other ingredients.
3) Cook pasta of choice and add.

Tomorrow at Little Robins Playgroup, I will add some vegan cream and they will add some fresh basil to taste themselves but this can be served without. I have also seen it served with parmesan.
