🎂🏆 THE GREAT TILBROOK BAKE OFF 2026 – WHAT A DAY! 🏆🎂
Well, what can we say? Tilbrook certainly rose to the occasion! 🍰
A huge thank you to everyone who entered, supported, baked, tasted, judged, organised, volunteered, washed up, moved tables, made tea, poured drinks, and helped make our very first Great Tilbrook Bake Off such a success.
The standard was incredibly high. We saw:
🥧 Wonderful savoury bakes, including some absolutely terrific sausage rolls
🎂 Cakes that looked almost too good to cut into
🍪 Biscuits that would have made any tea break proud
🌟 Creative bakes that demonstrated just how talented and imaginative our bakers are
Our judges had the unenviable task of tasting their way through so many fantastic entries that they probably won't need to eat again until next weekend! A huge thank you to all three (and a half) of them for taking on such a difficult job.
With four categories, each featuring 1st, 2nd and 3rd places, there were plenty of worthy winners. But honestly, every single baker should be proud of what they produced. The effort, creativity and skill on display were remarkable.
And then there was our Star Baker winner...
🐔🏆 Winner, winner, chicken dinner! 🏆🐔
The judges were blown away by an incredible creative bake that looked for all the world like a freshly roasted chicken straight from the oven. It was an absolute showstopper and a thoroughly deserved winner of the Star Baker title.
That said, we don't want to single out one bake at the expense of the others. Every category winner, runner-up and entrant contributed to making the event such a success, and the competition would not have been the same without all of you.

And after all the excitement, judging, scoring, rosettes and prize-giving, it was lovely to see a number of people stay on for our rather unconventional daytime Pop-Up Pub. 🍺🍷
Who says pubs are only for evenings? Cake followed by a pint seems like a perfectly reasonable way to spend a Saturday afternoon!
Thank you again to everyone who helped make the event such a success. The support from the village was fantastic and it was wonderful to see so many people coming together for a bit of fun, friendly competition and community spirit.

🎂🍰 ONE DAY TO GO... THE NERVES ARE BUILDING! 🍰🎂
The countdown is on to The Great Tilbrook Bake Off 2026, and somewhere across the village there are pastry cases being carefully watched, sponges rising in ovens, and last-minute recipe tweaks being made!

Will there be: 🥧 Perfectly crisp pastry or dreaded soggy bottoms? 🎂 Light, fluffy cakes or the heartbreak of sunken middles? 🍪 Biscuits with the perfect snap or cookies that refuse to cooperate? 🧁 Creative masterpieces or decorating disasters?
Tomorrow we'll find out!

A huge thank you to everyone who has entered. We are genuinely excited to see what Tilbrook's talented bakers AND some visiting bakers from other villages and towns have been busy creating. Whether you're competing for glory, baking for fun, or simply hoping not to set off the smoke alarm, you're all helping make this a brilliant village event.

🎂🍰 THE GREAT TILBROOK BAKE OFF IS THIS SATURDAY! 🍰🎂

The moment of truth is almost here. The cakes are cooling, the biscuits are being perfected, and somewhere in the village somebody is nervously wondering if they've taken the biscuit or completely overcooked it...

Whether you're entering a bake, supporting a friend, or simply turning up to sample the atmosphere, we'd love to see you at Tilbrook Village Hall this Saturday, 18 July.
